Reporting to the Sr. Director, Finance and Product Development, the Manager for Financial Systems Accounting & Analysis will be responsible for performing analytical and functional tasks related to the Groundswell financial and community solar subscription management systems.With responsibility for Groundswell financial accounting, analysis, and reporting, the candidate will work directly with Groundswell’s senior leadership, manager of business operations, and an external accounting vendor to ensure accuracy and timeliness in all elements of financial management.Joining Groundswell at an exciting time, the candidate will be responsible for establishing controls that will keep pace during rapid national growth. The candidate will also supervise the activities of an accounting firm that handles bookkeeping and related services.The ideal candidate will be an experienced accounting or financial management professional who takes pleasure in the details, is energized by the tasks in which accuracy and timeliness are valued and appreciates the impact of their work on compliance and business line success.This position requires a high-level of drive and passion for our work around energy and economic equity, customer focus, and the ability to operate in a results-driven environment where innovation and creativity are valued and expected.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial System Management & Controller ResponsibilitiesMaintain operations and controls in the areas of general ledger, capital and cash accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contracts and grants accountingRespond to evolving customer needs including executive leadership, management, and program staff; vendors; philanthropic and government funders; project investors; and solar energy subscribersProvide, in cooperation with Groundswell’s accounting firm, operational support, reconciliation, analysis, problem solving and reporting in the functional areas of AP, AR and cash-handling. Document, implement, and maintain financial, policies, procedures, and training to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactionsDevelop and maintain project budgets for community solar host site developmentReview and analyze grants, contracts and cooperative agreements in order to prepare, process and approve accounts and budget authorizationsIdentify emerging risks, including financial accounting, cash flow, and general compliance, and develop solutions in partnership with senior management and colleaguesPrepare interim and financial reports for grantsSupport annual organizational audits and grant-related auditsContinual process improvement of Groundswell’s financial systems for time tracking, grant reporting and financial accounting to increase efficiency Manage cash flows related to Groundswell’s subscriber management services for community solar projects, including subscriber billing and organizational earned revenueDevelop quarterly and annual financial reports for community solar project investors Management, General ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with colleagues, contractors, and community members Lead Groundswell projects independently with guidance, mentorship, and oversight from senior leadersDevelop and implement strategies to meet Groundswell goals, including project plans, work plans, and schedules Engage in prudent stewardship of human resources and Groundswell assetsServe as a representative of Groundswell with funders, local government, and partner organizations, and in the communityDrive continuous improvement in Groundswell processes and proceduresIdentify and respond to emerging risks and opportunitiesPerform of other duties as assigned DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in accounting or business strongly preferredKnowledge of Federal and local grant reporting standards Ability to communicate positively and effectively with funders, customers, and colleaguesStrong analytical and critical thinking abilities, organizational, time management, and proactive problem-solving skillsProven ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment with changing prioritiesPrevious experience with financial management in a non-profit and/or in companies providing construction, facilities management, or clean energyStrong communication and presentation skills Self-starter, motivated, able to work independently and manage multiple projectsStrong planning capabilities, highly organized, and on top of all the detailsFamiliarity with Sage Intacct or similar systems preferred but not requiredSUPERVISIONThe Associate Manager will report to Groundswell’s Sr. Director, Project Finance and Product DevelopmentCOMPENSATIONGroundswell Managers are paid a competitive salary with generous benefits.
