Course: Heartsaver CPR with AED Certification: 2 year American Heart Association card Book: The Heartsaver CPR with AED or Heartsaver CPR & First Aid student manual will be mailed to you prior to the day of the course. The Heartsaver Student Manual can also be picked up at the hospital by calling 444-2375. LOCATION: St. Peter’s Heath SimLab (training room). Please read and download the directions to the Simulation Lab (SimLab). There are also maps that can be downloaded to help you through the hospital to locate the SimLab. Course Objective: Participants will learn CPR and AED use, relief of choking, and use of barrier devices in adults, children, and infants. All classes at St. Peter’s Hospital are taught according to American Heart Association Guidelines. Following successful completion of this course, participants will receive a two-year certification in Heartsaver CPR with AED or Heartsaver CPR with First Aid. Those cards will be e-mailed and will arrive within five days after course completion. Ensure you have read the Heartsaver CPR with AED student manual prior to attending the class. On the day of the class: ??If you are more than 15 minutes late for class you will be asked to reschedule ??You MUST bring your CPR Student Manual to class with you ??Please do not bring your children to the class ??Be sure to wear comfortable clothing, as you will work with manikins on the floor ??Do not wear lipstick, chew gum or eat during manikin practice ??Tie back long hair during practice, so your instructor will be able to observe your performance ??If you are ill (i.e., active cold with fever or severe coughing, flu, Hepatitis, or active Tuberculosis) or have open sores on hands, lips or face, please reschedule your class date Cancellations Policy: Please cancel as soon as you know you cannot attend the course. The spots are continually filling up. We will be glad to help you reschedule. If you have an emergent situation arise that prevents you from attending the course, you should notify me at 406-444-2375 as soon as possible. American Disability Act: The American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center at St. Peter’s Health will make reasonable accommodations for disabilities during training, provided that the student can accomplish all knowledge and skill objectives of the American Heart Association Curricula for the course in which the student is attending. The student must request the accommodation in writing and explain how the requested accommodation will not interfere or limit the successful completion of all program objectives. The student must be aware that a reasonable accommodation granted for the purpose of training may not be granted for practical skills examination.
