Announcement made at AzNA convention to have AzNA manage chapter dues. Chapter board will still continue to have access to their current funds, but any new chapter dues will be placed into a chapter fund managed by the AzNA treasurer. The AzNA BOD is still deciding on how the chapters will access their money. Convention Review/Members’ MeetingLed by Kathy Wruk. Convention and meeting went well. Linda Ross (new Chapter 1 member won ANA annual membership) and LeAnn Prenovost purchased the retreat silent auction basket for $350. Bylaw revisions were approved at Convention. Statement needed to be added to the bylaws that AzNA BOD needs to approve any bylaw revisions for them to go into effect. Chapter 30 bylaw revisions have been sent to AzNA BOD for approval.Scholarship UpdateLed by Lynn Untermeyer. There were 2 CE scholarship applications. One applicant was awarded last November, one is a new applicant (and current member of chapter board). Both scored equal. Robin made a motion to give two (2) CE scholarships, Bill seconded the motion. Motion carried. CE Scholarship Winners: Sherry Hottenstein and Sarah Locke. For the Nursing Student scholarships, there were a total of 20 applicants; 2 did not meet the application requirements/criteria and were disqualified (one did not complete application and the other lived in Tucson). Of the 18 remaining applications: 14 ADN-BSN, 1 BSN, 1 doctorate. One applicant scored a 15, three other scored 13. Bill made a motion to give four (4) $500 tuition scholarships, Robin seconded the motion. Motion carried. Nursing Student Scholarship Winners: Alexandra Loar, Carolyn Severino, Adrian Ruiz, and Cynthia Ladner.Lynn brought up concerns about the GPA scoring value weighted too heavily in the scoring rubric. Consider revising? Also consider adding in criteria of having faculty or professional references? There was also discussion about geographic boundaries/counties for Chapter 30 members and what the criteria should be for scholarships. There are Chapter 30 members who live in Pinal County who are not eligible based on the current requirements to be a Maricopa County resident. Questioned if there are chapter members in other counties? Kathy will look into AzNA Chapter boundaries. Lynn will draft her suggestions prior to vacating position at the end of this term. The newly elected Director of Scholarship will re-address and bring to the board for discussion.SNAAz ConventionLed by Kathy Wruk. SNAAz Convention is October 21st.
