Subject: Changes to the FHA Single Family

Maximum Mortgage Limits

The Department has recently completed an analysis of housing

sales price data it periodically acquires in conjunction with the

establishment of FHA single family maximum mortgage limits. The

primary sources for these data are the Federal Housing Finance

Board (FHFB) and the WEFA Group, a private data analysis firm.

Based upon this analysis, I have identified 105 Metropolitan

Areas (MSAs and PMSAs) whose mortgage limits are being revised.

These areas and their corresponding increases are found in the

attached listing which also reflects several areas increased to

the new statutory ceiling that were not set forth in Mortgagee

Letter 94-52 . These revised limits are effective the date of

this memorandum.
