Third Grade Happenings

Important news from the teacher goes in this section.

Information from the office!

Starting Tuesday, September 2nd we will put in place a new front afternoon dismissal procedure to increase the efficiency as well as getting the vehicles off of Roper Road which will be safer for all. We will utilize two lanes at the cones and we will dismiss 10 students at once. Please follow all teacher directions to enable all students are safe during dismissal. Please do not pull out of your lane and ensure your vehicle is in park during dismissal, and it is a cell-phone free zone. Please also display your car tag and if you need one contact your teacher.

|Reading: Just Right Books |

|We will be wrapping up our discussion of how to pick Just Right books and that|

|Reading is Thinking. We will have a test over this information on Friday |

|Writing: Digital Citizenship |

|Before we have our iPad Launch, we will discuss being a digital citizen. |

|There are no spelling words this week. |

|Math: Place Value and Rounding |

|Students need to know the difference between “place” and “value”. We will |

|work more on expanded form and rounding to the nearest 10 and 100. |

|Science/SC History: |

|In SC History we will continue to discuss the regions of SC. We will have a |

|test on Thursday over the Blue Ridge, Piedmont and Global Address. |

| |

|In Science, we will be doing a week long investigation of Mexican Jumping |

|Beans. We will work on process skills through this investigation. |

News from the Teacher:

Thank you so much for attending our third grade parent night. Our September Reading Calendar goes home today. Students are asked to read 280 minutes per month (15 minutes/day). Please add the name of the book and minutes read for each day.

This app allows students to practice the different forms of place value from one up to thousands.
