Eckert Scholarship is awarded annually by the Warren County Conservation District to a deserving student planning to continue her/his education in a conservation-related field or service. These applications should be made available to all students pursuing post-secondary education in a field that is related to the environment or conservation. Examples are Forestry, Wildlife Management, Environmental Planning, Agronomy, Earth Science, Biology, Natural Sciences, Environmental Engineering, and Soil Science. The following criteria are used in determining the award recipient: quality grades, strong personal letter, recommendations, experience, and need. Application is available in Guidance Office Edgar Snyder & Associates “Words to be Heard” Scholarship Contest – High school seniors who will be attending a 4-year college or university can participate in this contest by submitting a presentation (video/PowerPoint/brochure/website/essay) that discourages underage drinking and driving or texting while driving. The presentation can also highlight the dangers of drinking and driving or texting while driving. Multiple scholarships, ranging from $5,000 to $1,000, will be awarded. Approximate due date: end of April. Application is available online at scholarships.Edith Langdale Scholarship—For high school seniors who are planning on majoring in education. Applications can be picked up in guidance office and are due May 8, 2020. Elk County Community Foundation – Ruth E. Reed Nursing Scholarship – This scholarship is eligible for seniors graduating from any high school in Elk, Clearfield, or Warren Counties interested in pursuing a degree in nursing. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (84.0500). Any student who is awarded this scholarship through the Elk County Community Foundation and attends a Pennsylvania post-secondary institution may be offered a matching grant (via PHEAA’s PATH program) for the amount of the scholarship they’ve already received. Application is available in the Guidance Office and must be returned to the Guidance Office when completed.Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship – Any high school senior, who is a U.S. citizen, and is in the top 10% of their class, is eligible to apply. Male and female students compete separately for identical awards. Application is online at Emory J. Mahan Memorial Scholarship (Sponsored by the Warren County Republican Committee) One-time $1000 awards available to current high school seniors. Recipients are selected primarily on the basis of a competition wherein scholarly essays written on a topic determined by the WCRC Scholarship Committee are judged for their conservative values and positive support of our Constitution and constitutional republic. Students selected to receive a scholarship will be announced and recognized at the WCRC Annual Spring Dinner. Deadline : late October Levinson Family Scholarship Fund – Applicant must live within the area encompassed by the Warren County School District and shall have graduated from one of the public high schools within the WCSD. First preference shall be given to students planning to make retailing, marketing, advertsiing, business management, or merchandising their vocation. This scholarship was established in memory of a dear friend and colleague, Michelle Marion, who passed away in early 2018.
