Erie County JFSMany staff are working remotely, the lobby remains closed to the public through JuneResource room is now accepting appointments for job search, resume creation and issues regarding unemployment – one person at a time – all having to follow social distancing and wearing a mask. Sanitizing precautions will also be taken by staff before and after each visit WIOA – Rebecca Frisch will also be scheduling appointments for drug testing for her program participantsOpioid NEG#3 Grant Dislocated Worker/ Long-Term Unemployed (27 weeks) Self, Family Member, or Friend impacted by the opioid epidemic able to be assisted with work experience or in-demand training. 5 people are currently being served under this grant and 1 person is pending until the school opensUnemploymentThe state has 8% of applications yet to be filedThere are still many people in the area that have issues that need to be resolvedThe OMJ Resource Room has been effective in assisting with unemployment claimsAble-Bodied Adults Without DependentsSNAP recipients will not be required to do any work-related activities as the waiver has been extended due to the COVID 19 pandemicOne the Job Training You hire, you train, we pay6-month program, we can pay up to 50% of wages up to $8,000Each employee would need to fill out a WIOA application and meet all of the guidelines for that program including income guidelines – 250% poverty level Responsible Restart Ohio The state is hearing that individuals do not want to return to work because of the benefits they are receiving through unemployment Employers are being asked if individuals refuse to return to work to please report the refusal as it will affect the unemployment benefits COVID 19 PRCOne-time payment of $500 to landlords and mortgage companiesMoney is sent directly to the landlord162 families have been approved and applications continue to be submittedGuidelines include having a minor child in the home, being laid off or reduced hours due to COVID 19 and income guidelinesIncumbent WorkerShared Work Ohio Employers to bring back employees part time can apply for this special type of unemployment Unemployment will pay a portion of the workers salary to make up for the hours to equal 40 hours for the worker in a weekP-EBT CardFamilies with children K-12 who are eligible for reduced price meals will receive an EBT card in the mail or if they possess a card, funds will be added to the existing card Children eligible for free or reduced lunch in March will receive $302.10 and those children in April will received $239.40Funds should be available the end of MayMISCThe maximum allowance of food stamps is being authorized through this crisisNobody at this time is being taken off of Medical through the crisis Erie Metropolitan Housing AuthorityWaiting List is open June 8th for one week Paper Applications can be obtained, filled out and returned to 322 Warren St (all is available outside the building)The building is closed through the month of JuneApplications can be filed on-line Economic DevelopmentFriday lunch webinars – subjects such as health department updates the next webinar is the 29th Career Exploration / Career Day Working with Cedar Point for employeesGLCAPActive enrollment age 18-24Hiring a full time and part time worker for Erie County – Other employees (Patty) has been coming to help SharonAll workers are working remotely from home Adult Career CenterApplication fees are being waived for new students due to the COVID 19Will send flyers to advertise – OMJ to post on Facebook and Erie County Facebook Cedar Point 1/3 Capacity of total workers hiredPartnering with GLCPA and Erie County Economic Development for appropriate students and adults to apply for positions ................
