Q4 Book Report Policy - Weebly

Mrs. Hokana’s

2018-2019 Accelerated Reader Policy

1. 9th graders must report on 400 pages each quarter. Pages in a book count as “reported” when you pass an AR test at 70% for 10-point tests or 65% for 20-point tests.

2. 11th graders must report on 500 pages each quarter. Pages in a book count as “reported” when you pass an AR test at 70% for 10-point tests or 65% for 20-point tests.

You can easily check whether a title is AR on this website:

3. You can find your username and password by clicking on “Find User Name” when you sit down to take an AR test.

4. You can take your AR tests in the resource center before or after school. Place your purple slip into your book & turn both in to the homework tray. If you use an e-reader, show me the screen when you turn your slip in.

5. Only one non-AR report will be accepted per year. A 3-page literary analysis essay on the book is due one week prior to the pages due date. The report should follow a specific format; ask me prior to beginning the book.

6. Pages are due near the end of each quarter. The due dates are posted in my classroom; copy these into your planner!

7. Classroom novels may count for AR pages, depending on how you score on the unit test. You must earn a C or better on the teacher-made unit test. No AR tests will be accepted for classroom novels.

8. An AR test is required each semester, even if you have 500 carryover pages. I want you to keep reading and keep growing!

9. Please bring your AR book to English class every day. I do periodic pop checks & points are deducted from your AR pages score if you are caught without a book in the room.

10. Extra pages carry from quarter to quarter, but not into 10th or 12th grade.

11. You may raise your Q4 grade by 1% per pages read equal to an extra quarter of reading. Example: If an 11h grader reads 1000 (500x2) extra pages, his or her final grade will increase by 2%. Maximum Q4 increase of 3%.
