This would be the first day of our final half term of the year and it is hard to believe that we find ourselves in the current situation. Thank you all for your support, your commitment and for the lovely messages that we receive from you and your children, which make us smile and mean the world to us.Here are some notices and important information:ADDITIONAL EMERGENCY CHILDCARE HUBS UPDATEAs some of you are aware, from today, twelve new additional emergency childcare hubs have opened across RCT. As a direct consequence this will now require all school staff across the LA to be attending hubs on a far more regular basis. This increase in hubs is to address the growth in demand for emergency childcare across the County Borough. Please note that there is no official confirmation on when the re-opening of all schools in Wales will take place. We have however been provided with reassurance by the Minister of Education that a three week notice period will be given prior to any phased re-opening of schools. All national and local decisions will be informed by the current medical advice and guidance so that the health, safety and wellbeing of our children, school staff and communities is protected. NB: Please be aware that because of the increased demand on staff time to work at the emergency childcare hubs weekly, there will be a need for all staff to ensure the quantity of distance learning is balanced fairly against their hub commitments so they are able to successfully achieve the requirements of both these roles. Therefore, you may notice a change in that teachers cannot respond immediately to work posted as they may well be working at a hub. Staff will endeavour to post and respond to work regularly throughout the week. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated. READING CHALLENGE During June, reading challenges will be posted on Twitter on a daily basis. We are doing this to encourage a love of reading amongst the children. Challenges involve independent reading as well as reading together and being read to! Please follow us on Twitter @aberdareciw and post your photographs for us to see the lovely things that you are doing.WORSHIPAs you know, Worship and resources for Worship are posted on ourTtwitter page on a weekly basis. I would like to personally thank Father Matthew Gibbon from St. Margaret’s Aberaman for making a special Pentecost video for us. It was such lovely thing to do and we look forward to seeing Father Matthew at school, hopefully, very soon. Should any of you wish to access Worship on a Sunday, services are being streamed live from St. Margaret’s and also from St. Fagan’s, Aberdare. If you visit the Facebook page of either parish you will be able to see when the services are and also how to join in. NEWS FROM THE FRIENDS ASSOCIATIONPlease keep an eye on the ‘Friends’ social media pages (Facebook and Twitter) for a ‘lockdown fundraiser’ that you can all get involved with! More details to follow.SCHOOL REPORTSThe school will be providing you with a report for your child this year. This will take a different format from previous years but will hopefully provide you with an understanding of how your child has been doing in the first half of the year. I will shortly confirm when and how you will receive these reports. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.LEARNING AT HOMEYou are all doing wonderfully at home with your children. I want to reassure you once again that the wellbeing and safety of your child is of the utmost importance. Although we ensure that there is plenty of learning activities available to your child on Teams, please do not feel under any pressure. It is there as a support and an opportunity – it is not there to cause you any undue concerns. From personal experience, I know that the thing my child needs most at the moment is my reassurance. If you are at all worried about anything, please contact us at the school. We will be more than happy to help you. Finally, please stay safe! Enjoy this wonderful sunshine together and I really hope that it won’t be too long before we are back to some sense of normality. I will keep you informed of any developments over the coming weeks. Please give your children a bug hug from all of us here at Town Church. We miss you all very much.Yours sincerely,M.C.WerrettMrs. M.C. WerrettHeadteacher ................
