February is CTE Month!

Seventh grade Technology Education students at Jefferson Middle School designed and created cigar box guitars using 3D printers, the wood shop lab, and laser engravers . The guitars will be used by students during a concert at Kenmore Middle School with a focus on the Piedmont Blues style of music. In preparation for the concert, students have been invited to write lyrics to one of several songs about living in Arlington. Cassidy Nolen and Chris Ammon are the Technology Education Teachers at Jefferson.

On January 19th, 41 VA-821 cadets from the Arlington Career Center, along with seven chaperones, supported Wreath's Across America cleanup at Arlington National Cemetery. This was a great opportunity to pay respect to American heroes and to serve the community. Scott Dierlam, Colonel, USAF (Retired) is the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at the Arlington Career Center.

Students and staff at the Arlington Career Center listened to a presentation by Kirk Bloodsworth and Shujaa Graham, both exonerees from Death Row. These men were wrongfully accused of murder and were released by the Innocence Project. Anne Cupero is the Forensic Science Instructor.

Congratulation to Wakefield DECA members Arti Shala and Ela Gokcigdem who both won 1st place in the regional competition and will advance to the state competition in April. Ela won 1st place in Entrepreneurship and Arti won 1st place in Business Services Marketing.

Vex Robotics Scrimmage

Come out and see the high school VEX teams from Arlington County Public Schools prepare for the upcoming competition. Middle School teams will also be gaining new robotics skills at the event. There will be other robots available to code at the event, too.
