 Grade 1 Harrison - 2 Week Plan (May 4th - May 15th, 2020)Please choose 1 activity a day from each section. Please feel free to post an image or video of your child doing the activity to our Google Classroom. All mentioned resources can be found in our Google Classroom: or on Mrs. Harrison’s website: Remember to keep reading each day for at least 20 minutes!Literacy (20 minutes)Math (20 minutes)Other (20 minutes)Watch Jack Hartmann’s Lifecycle of a Frog video and then write a first-then story about what happens in the lifecycle (ex. first, then, next, and finally). Remember to add lots of details! a number in different ways. Section a piece of paper into 4 sections. Roll a dice (or two) and show that number in different ways (ex. words, ten frame, tallies, dice dots, pictures, addition and/or subtraction sentence, etc.).Practice mindfulness with a Cosmic Yoga video. This one is called Frank the Frog: the letters in metamorphosis to write as many word wall words as you can (ex. me, to, etc.).Use ordinal numbers and write what happens first, second, and third (and beyond) when getting ready for bed. Practice your typing skills on Dance Mat Typing.Make word wall words out of objects you find outside (sticks, stones, pinecones, etc.). Write a list of all the words you made.Count the people that live in your house with you. How many toes do they have altogether? How many fingers? Can you count them by 1s, 2s, and 5s?Listen to Frogs by Gail Gibbons: an email to Mrs. Harrison. I’ll write you back! Learn how to draw a frog with this Art Hub for Kids video: the Bee-Bot Emulator to spell word wall words: your own picture in a hundreds chart.Use recycling items from around your home (cardboard, bottle caps, paper, plastic, etc.) to create a habitat for a frog. A habitat is where a creature lives. A habitat has everything that creature needs to live (food, shelter, water, and protection).Use comic strip paper to retell the lifecycle of a frog. Don’t forget to use speech bubbles!Draw and label a number line from 0 to 20 with sidewalk chalk. Practice hopping like a frog by 1s, 2s, and 5s. Can you count backwards from 20 to 1?Take a mood walk with Blazer Fresh from GoNoodle: Create a Google Slide that has a picture of a frog and at least one callout. Remember to use insert - image and insert - shape to add pictures and callouts. Write the number sentence and find the sum (ex. 4 + 7 = 11).Use this interactive website to practice counting to 10 in Mi’Kmaq: your own Alphabet Linking Chart by cutting and glueing pictures from flyers, magazines, or food packaging that starts with the same letter (ex. a flyer picture of a watermelon for Ww). Remember to ask first before using scissors!Play Go Fish for Make-10 and doubles pairs (remove the face cards).Watch the video below and become a weather watcher for the week. You can write down the weather and draw a picture each day. Write a story that has a beginning, middle, and end. Remember to add lots of details and describing words.Get someone at home to hold 2 playing cards up to their forehead. Give them clues to figure out their number (ex. 1 more/less than __, it comes before/after __).
