Students attend one set of classes from September to January and another set of classes from February to June. Each full block class is awarded two credits and assigned grades twice (the equivalent of one year’s worth of work). Each “flex” block class is assigned one credit (the equivalent of one semester’s worth of work). Sixty-four credits are required for graduation; classes are not weighted.COVID19 EXPLANATION On March 10, 2020 King’s High School moved to Microsoft Teams for remote learning. KHS did not have issues with equity or access and was able to provide quality learning experiences that continued to meet the academic standards, learning objectives and learning outcomes required for each course. King’s decision to maintain grading practices honors the work that was completed on campus before we closed campus, and the diligent work being submitted through distance learning. Attendance in distance learning synchronous classrooms is equal (or higher) than attendance when the campus was open. Assignments were due for each class meeting, thereby providing multiple opportunities to demonstrate learning. Assignments included class discussion, discussion boards, submission of work, and quizzes. Policies and decisions were aligned with the Washington’s Board of Education’s stance on grading and graduation requirements during the COVID-19 crisis, and with the research conducted by KHS. We are proud of our learning community’s commitment to continue learning with nurturing care, integrity, and perseverance. Spring/Fall 2020 grades can be used to accurately illustrate performance.00TRANSCRIPT EXPLANATION | King’s High School follows a two-term block schedule.
