This week, you may choose from two different assignment options. Select Option A or Option B to complete for your assignment.

Option A: Methods of Instruction – Newspaper

You are a reporter for Education Weekly. Your editor has asked you to create a new newspaper format and write the articles for the next edition. He would like next week’s edition to focus on various methods of instruction.

• Resource: Newspaper Generator

• Design a newspaper using the Newspaper Generator located in Week Two of the student website.

• Write articles in which you describe various methods of instruction and ways to incorporate these methods of instruction into the social studies classroom.

• Include the following in your articles:

o Curriculum mapping

o Differentiated instruction

o Inquiry-based learning

o Cooperative learning

o Independent or student-directed learning

Note. These should relate to the unit topic you will be creating in Week Four. Include technology use as one of your resources.

• Include a definition of each strategy, benefits and challenges of using each strategy, and examples of effective use in the classroom.

• Submit the newspaper.

Option B: Methods of Instruction – Concept Map

Your principal has asked you to present an in-service meeting to your fellow teachers on the various methods of instruction. He has asked that you create a concept map that can be handed out to other teachers following the presentation.

• Review the University of Phoenix Material: Concept Map Example for this assignment.

• Write activity ideas, notes, and resources that pertain to the following:

o Curriculum mapping

o Differentiated instruction

o Inquiry-based instruction

o Cooperative learning

o Individual or student-directed learning

Note. These should relate to the unit topic you will be creating in Week Four. Include technology use as one of your resources.

• Use your concept map notes to create an outline of your history or social science unit for Week Four.

• Submit the concept map and outline.
