Due Mar25, 2020LCPS – Loudoun County Beat the Odds Scholarships have been added to the Naviance system.? The scholarships are open to applicants that are current residents of Loudoun County and on track to meet the requirements for a high school diploma at the end of the current school year.? Applicants must have maintained a grade point average that demonstrated a marked improvement or continuing success, while participating in activities, either formal or information which are helpful to other such as volunteering, community service, taking responsibility for other family members, or earning part of the family’s income.? He/She must have persevered despite significant hardships such as poverty, disability, severe physical or mental illness, abuse, homelessness, personal tragedy, past criminal or delinquent behavior, or addiction involving themselves or a family member.? The applicant or someone in their immediate family or household received on or more services from one of the agencies listed on the application.? Deadline is May 31, 2020.Open from Mar 2ToJune15LCPS – CIA Scholarship - This scholarship is a financial needs-based program for graduating high school seniors, first-year undergraduate students and, in some cases, second-year undergraduate students who are looking to work summers in Washington, DC while attending an accredited college or university during the school year.? In this program, you can receive up to $25,000 per year for tuition, fees, and books and a year-round salary (starting at $31,456 and increases each year with the program).? You will perform meaningful work related to your college major. In addition to a year-round salary, recipients are provided up to $18,000 in tuition assistance per calendar year, and are eligible for health insurance, paid time off and more.? Participants will have access to a CIA housing coordinator to assist in locating housing within the Washington Metro Area. Undergraduate scholarship participants are required to work for at least two 90-day sessions before graduation and be employed by the CIA after graduation for a period of 1.5 years for each year of paid scholarship.? Applicant must be a US Citizen with a GPA of at least 3.9 on a 4-point scale for highs school and/or college – 1000 SAT or 21 ACT score or higher; Applicant must be 18 years of age (September of the application year); Applicant must be accepted at a four-year college/university and available to work a 90-day summer tour in Washington, DC area prior to college graduation and willingness to work at CIA full-time after graduation. Qualifications looked for include academic excellence in core subjects relating to desired college major, relevant practical or job experience in your field of interest, proficiency in a foreign language, demonstrated leadership qualities and genuine interest in contributing to CIA’s mission.?
