• Annual Seminar – Contractor Relationships – Solving the Puzzle. Les confirmed that this on the 22nd February 2017 at this venue and ticket prices are held at the previous year’s cost of £84 for members and £102 for non-members, both inclusive of VAT. A draft programme was available on each table and members were told that tonight’s speaker Stephen Asbury, will also be a speaker at the February event. The event is on the IOSH Events Page and bookings are now being taken.

• CPD/IPD. Workshops - There are two held each year, in October and April at Lutterworth College. This is a two-hour session with hot buffet provided. There are individual computers for everyone. Les reminded all members present to make sure they bring their CPD up to date as IOSH are doing checks and it could mean being taken back a level if their CPD is not current. The next one will be in April 2017, date to be announced. Please contact the secretary at e-mail: secretary-midshires@ioshnetworks.co.uk to book a place.

• CPD Sessions at the Branch meetings - A reminder that we can provide brief CPD sessions at the start of each Branch Meeting – come at 6pm to work with a member of the committee. Please advise us in advance via the secretary (e-mail above) if you require a session. CPD cards are now available at the Branch meetings to record your attendance.

• Blue Print – IOSH’s new assessment tool – The IOSH Blueprint self-assessment tool helps you to review your current skills and knowledge and create a development plan to progress in your career as an OSH professional. Les asked for a show of hands, as he did at the December meeting, to see if it would be worth holding a half-day session at Dunchurch. There was again enough interest for the committee to consider arranging an evening session. Les will keep members informed.

• Branch Members and Mailer – For members to receive communications from this branch they need to be on the register that is held by IOSH Head Office, for the Mid Shires Branch. Members should telephone IOSH on 0116 257 3100 and speak to the membership department to tell them you want to be registered to the Mid Shires Branch. Les confirmed that IOSH members will receive a survey from IOSH membership, which will require two clicks to select your branch of choice, which hopefully will be Mid Shires Branch.

• OHSCAR awards – the winners of 2016 OHSCAR awards were announced at the December 2016 meeting when Mulk Raj from Aston Martin received 3rd Prize and Mark Startin from Crane Building Services, received 2nd prize. The award of first prize went to Andrew Hornby of Arcadis, and, at the January 17 meeting, he gave a short presentation on his winning project followed by a Q&A. The committee are hoping to do this again for 2017 and will keep members informed.

• Next Committee Meeting - The next committee meeting will be held on Wednesday 18th January 2017.

• Questions and Answer Session – If members have questions they’d like answered at the meeting, they can either put one on the Q&A board or speak to one of the committee members at the start of each meeting.
