The duration for this rigorous component of the training will be two full weeks in which student border services officers will learn the basics of defense and control tactics. The skills and techniques learned during this time are very physical and require the student border services officer to be prepared physically. As such, it is critical that student border services officers prepare themselves physically before they arrive at the training centre to ensure their best physical condition and readiness. This will help guard against training injuries and ensure you get the most out of the training. You also need to be willing to wear and maintain a uniform and work various shifts. Students in programs like criminology, law, safety/security studies, psychology, sociology, customs border services or police studies may be given preference.Q.3: Do students need to have a driver’s license?A.3: In some locations you’ll need a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive a government vehicle.Q.4: Do students carry the duty firearm?A.4: Student border service officers are not armed. That said, in some cases, we equip students with other defensive tools. Training for appropriate use and maintenance is provided.
