TRADE NAME: Atropisol, Isopto Atropine

GENERIC NAME: ATROPINE SULFATE - OPHTHALMIC

CLASSIFICATION: mydriatic (Dilates the pupil)

ACTION: Dilates the pupil

ROUTE (IN SURGERY): eye drops

DOSAGE (ADULT): per MD instruction ( can be an OTC drug)

SIDE EFFECTS: (2 MOST COMMON AND 2 MOST SERIOUS): changes in vision, eye pain, trembling, rapid heartbeat, fever, dizziness or difficult urination, rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble or discharge from the eye(s).

HOW IT IS USED IN SURGERY: This medication relaxes muscles in the eye, which causes the pupil to widen (dilate). It is used to treat inflammation of certain parts of the eye (uveal tract). It is also used for certain eye exams.
