INT SIMONE REECE’S BEDROOM MORNING

The bedroom is dark and still. An alarm rings at 5:30. SIMONE REECE stirs and turns the clock off.

SIMONE

Really? It can’t be time already.

Simone gets out of bed and goes to the dresser, changing from her oversized t-shirt to a pair of shorts, tank top, and sox. From the corner she retrieves a pair of running shoes and puts them on. She heads to a treadmill and hops on.

SIMONE

Hello old friend. What are we going to do today?

She turns on one of four televisions that are on the wall. As she does, she increases her fast walk to a jog. She changes the channels until she sees a story that is interesting to her. She mutes the other three channels, and turns the volume up on the forth.

VO

Sarah Brown has just been names successor to James Killinger of CCH Computers. This makes Sarah the youngest CEO of CCH history, and the only woman to serve on the board of directors. Stock of CCH shot up with the news of Ms Brown’s promotion.

SIMONE

Well Sarah Brown, what’s your story?

Simone continues to jog, turns off the tv sets, and clicks on a laptop that is attached to the treadmill. She completes her jog as she types in Sarah Brown in the search engine. She reads the sites that are returned, clicking one after another.

SIMONE

Well Sarah, looks like we have some work to do together!

Simone completes the jog, and heads into the bathroom.

INT BUSY AIRPORT MIDMORNING

SIMONE IS WORKING AT AN AIRPORT INFORMATION KIOSK. SHE ORGANIZES HER WORK AREA, WAVING OCCASIONALLY TO PEOPLE WALKING BY. RETRIEVING A THUMB DRIVE FROM HER PURSE, SHE INSERTS IT INTO THE COMPUTER, AND PUNCHES A FEW KEYS. A NEARBY PRINTER SPITS OUT A PHOTO. SIMONE LOOKS AT IT FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, THEN PLACES IT IN A FOLDER MARKED, SARAH BROWN.

VO

Would Sarah Brown please report to the airport information kiosk on concourse three please? Sarah Brown, please report to the airport information kiosk on concourse three.

SIMONe

Here we go!

Simone continues to tidy and organize her work station. There is normal hustle and bustle around the airport. She notices a harried but attractive woman heading toward the kiosk. Taking the photo from the folder, Simone holds it up and compares it to the woman approaching the kiosk, to make sure the woman is SARAH BROWN.

SARAH

Hello, I’m Sarah Brown. I was just paged to this kiosk.

SIMONE

Yes, Ms. Brown. We paged you to let you know that your flight to Portland has been cancelled. You were the only passenger no present at the gate at the time. We just need to reschedule your flight.

sarah

What? That flight was not scheduled to take off for another hour. I can’t believe I was the only one not present. Unbelievable. When is the next flight?

Simone

Well, let’s see. We have a flight scheduled on Almeda Air that leaves in thirty minutes, and you will arrive in Portland at, let’s see, oh, exactly the same time.

SARAh

Can we hurry this up then?

Simone

Absolutely. I just need to see your I.D., and I’ll get this printed up for you.

Sarah takes her id from her wallet. She hands it to Simone, who takes a glance at it, and begins to type into the computer, and prints the ticket. Sarah is impatient and exasperated at this. Simone hands her the ticket.

SIMONE

You see that you are still on this….

sarah

Yes, yes, same concourse, gate fifteen. I’ve flown before you know. I can see from the folder.

Sarah takes the ticket and leaves the kiosk quickly.

SIMONE

Have a good flight! Boy have we got some work to do with you.

INT AIRPLANE AFTERNOON

A FLIGHT ATTENDANT walks down the aisle of the emptying airport. She stops at Sarah’s seat. Sarah is fast asleep.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT

Ma’am. Excuse me ma’am, I just wanted to let you know that we’ve landed.

SARAH STIRS AND LOOKS UP AT THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT.

SARAH

What? Oh. I guess I dozed off. I never sleep on a plane.

flight attendent

I hope you slept well then. If you’ll just go the gate someone will be there to give you information on connections if you need it.

sARAH

Oh, that won’t be necessary. I’m staying here in Portland.
