CALM 20 Independent Living Unit ProjectYour Unit Project will relate to all of the topics we have covered in CALM 20 class in the Independent Living Unit. Scenario: You have $5000 saved and you are ready to find a place to rent and start living on your own, and buy a used car for yourself.Your Unit Project must consist of the following items:1) Create a Budget. Your budget must show how much money you will spend on rent, utilities (if not included in rent), food, transportation (used car price, gas and insurance), savings, and other expenses (ex. Entertainment, clothing etc.) (Budget is for 1 Month)2) Find a Bank. You must save $500 of your money in a savings account. Look on the following sites to decide which bank you will chose to put your savings into, and explain briefly why (ex. what are the benefits of the bank you chose over the other banks).3) Find a Rental Property. You must look on the following sites for a rental property that fits in your budget. Be sure to see if utilities are included or not, if there is laundry on site, and parking availability. Print off the rental property ad and attach it to your Unit Project.4) Find a Used Car. You must look on the following sites for a used car to purchase that fits in your budget. Print off the ad of the used car you have selected and attach it to your Unit Project.5) Plan 3 Supper Meals. You must plan 3 meals for supper. Each meal must consist of all the food groups (Vegetables/Fruit, Grain Products, Milk and Alternatives, Meat and Alternatives). After you have planned out the meals, you must make a grocery list of all items needed, and price out how much all the items will cost.
