Activity DataBase 2012 Software Release Notes

The installation notes below give details for upgrading from ADB 2009, ADB 2010 and ADB 2011. For new installations users are advised to consult the ADB 2012 Installation Notes on the CD or see the ADB 2012 Installation Notes in the Publications area of spaceforhealth.nhs.uk.

ADB 2012 is a major software upgrade with new features outlined below:

1. a new XML-based licensing and configuration system for improved network and 64-bit support;

2. simplified SQL Server setup using centralised project creation;

3. Crystal Reports template editor with facilities for custom logos, headers, font etc;

4. support for 64-bit versions of AutoCAD 2010/11 and 12. This requires SQL Server projects.

This version is compatible with 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows XP SP2/3 and Windows 7.

Upgrading from ADB 2009/2010 and ADB 2011

1. Uninstall any previous version of ADB before installing ADB 2012. Please note: uninstalling a previous version will also uninstall any ADB reference projects from the local machine, eg uninstalling ADB 2011 will remove ADB 204V2 and ADB 2009b from C:\Program Files\DHEFD\Activity Database\Projects or C:\Program Files (x86)\DHEFD\Activity Database\Projects. If you wish to retain these, copy these files to some temporary location.

2. Install ADB 2012 by running setup.exe on the CD. Administrator rights are required. (Running ADBsetup.msi will not install all the prerequisite software, eg Crystal Reports.)

3. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users should set User Account Control off.

4. Run the ADB Configuration Manager, select your required configuration and follow the prompts. Note: all users will need to reactivate their software. Contact adb@coi..uk or call 0113 346 6071.

5. If you are using ADB with AutoCAD, run the ADB Configuration Manager, select the maintenance option and specify the appropriate AutoCAD or ADT equivalent version. This must be performed for ALL workstations. If you are using ADB with 64-bit versions of AutoCAD you will need to install SQL Server and configure the ADB Explorer for SQL Server before configuring ADB for use with AutoCAD.

AutoCAD 2010/11 and 2012 32-bit versions with the standard ADB menu and toolbar require the appropriate AutoCAD VBA Enabler, which is obtainable from . This is not required for 64-bit versions.

Reference Projects

Data is available for download – details are available on the Space for Health website at:

These files will be downloadable by licence holders only, from a secure website administered by the Department of Health. The project files should be copied to the local machine or network. For a standalone installation this will typically be C:\ADB\Projects. For networked installations this can be a location on a server to which every ADB user has full read/write access.

Documentation

Full documentation is included on the CD.

Additional Files on CD

Crystal Reports

Users with 32-bit Windows Vista and 32-bit Windows 7 need to upgrade to Crystal XI SP4. First, use Remove Programs to remove Crystal Reports XI. Install CrystalReportsXISP4\CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi from the CD.

For 32-bit Windows XP users who wish to edit reports, you should install CrystalReports\CrystalRedist115_x86 (also on the CD).

The activation key for both versions is: B6W60-01CS200-00GPYB2-0GR1

SQL Server Scripts

Scripts for configuring SQL for use with ADB and for batch creation of projects are included in the SQL Server Scripts folder. Please note that if you have been using ADB with the 64-bit version of the Revit add-on and wish to use ADB with 64-bit AutoCAD, you should use the SQL Enterprise Manager or SQL Management Studio to delete the old MASTER2000 database before running the script to attach the new MASTER2000 database.
