NOTE: use PowerPoint (AutoCAD 101) as a guide.

**CONSTANTLY QUESTIONING STUDENTS TO ENSURE NO ONE FALLS BEHIND**

- OPEN AutoCAD (start menu, all programs, Autodesk Folder, AutoCAD ARCHITECTURE folder, AUTOCAD ARCHITECTURE 2016 – ENGLISH) Be patient it may take time to load.

- CHOOSE Template (left side of screen, below Start Drawing)

- SCROLL down to find ACADISO.dwt (metric template drawing) Select it. **UNITS: mm (metric)**

- AUTOCAD TIP – “wheelie-ball”/mouse usage. Scrolling in and out, pan AKA move around screen. Left click (select) and Right click (presents you with options) are used as they would be in other programs.

- AUTOCAD TIP – COMMAND LINE, prompts you to successful navigate through a command, tells you what’s going on in your drawing

- LAYER SET-UP – type layer, find the new layer button, create the following layers: (watch for changes in each column. LAYERS HELP YOU TO KEEP YOUR DRAWING ORGANIZED. CAN TURN THEM ON/OFF TO HELP TO SEE SPECIFIC THINGS ON YOUR PLAN CLEARER ex. Electrical on a floor plan.

- AUTOCAD TIP – TABS, they are found at the top of the screen and are used to categorize different AUTOCAD commands/buttons. Take the time to explore the different tabs now.

- TEXT SET-UP – ANNOTATE TAB, find small arrow (corner of TEXT block), on the left side choose STANDARD, click NEW (right side), create the following TEXT STYLES.

**7TH INNING STRETCH**

- DIMENSION SET-UP – ANNOTATE TAB, dimension block, drop down menu, click MANAGE DIMENSION STYLE, choose ISO-25, click NEW. Follow windows: (larger copy found on website, Videos & Resources or Powerpoint AutoCAD 101) FOLLOW ALONG VERY CAREFULLY – DON’T MISS ANYTHING

- SAVE – BIG RED ‘A’ (top left corner of screen), SAVE AS, DRAWING. Save to your Student number directory NOT to My Documents (it will get lost).

- COMMANDS – Cheat Sheet, some common commands – show how to use. Let student’s test it out (3 minutes). CAPS LOCK

- AUTOCAD TIP – PROPERTIES MENU, PROP (shortcut), changes you can make.

- SAVE OFTEN – Crashes happen, NEVER SAVE if AutoCAD quits automatically and then asks you to save. You could use your entire drawing.

- SUBMITTING A FILE – SELKIRKDRAFTING. – choose class, scroll down, first & last name, YOUR email, attach file.

- AUTOCAD RUBRIC – review with students, MAIN TOPICS. NOTE: lots pertains to the set-up done today.
