Calculations were performed in Excel with VBA and PTC Mathcad. Analyzed and designed a prototype thin gauge heat exchanger structure, a steel 600-ton press retrofit requiring 23 tons of up to 3-inch plate by modeling the parts and assemblies in Autodesk Inventor and importing them to ANSYS 14.5 for meshing and FEA. Performed fatigue and fracture calculations on welds and steel plate for the 600-ton press retrofit. The buildings utilized light weight concrete floors over composite type metal decking with metal wall panels spanning channel girts.
