COURSE DESCRIPTION: Architectural Drawing and Design I is the second course in the Architectural Drawing and Design pathway and introduces students to the basic terminology, concepts, and principles of architectural design. Emphasis is placed on house designs, floor plans, roof designs, elevations (interior and exterior), schedules, and foundations. The standards are aligned with the drafting and design standards in Georgia’s technical colleges, thus helping students qualify for advanced placement to continue their education at the postsecondary level. Students who successfully complete this and other drafting courses should be prepared to take the End of Pathway Assessment. Competencies for the co-curricular student organization, SkillsUSA, are integral components of both the core employability skills standards and the technical skills standards.

GRADING PROCEDURE: Students are graded consistently with the grading policies of the Henry County Board of Education.

MAKE-UP PROCEDURE: Students are allowed to make up work for excused absences only. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain make up work upon the first day of their return. All make up work will follow the guidelines set in the Student Handbook.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

|Be inside the lab and seated when the bell rings. |Immediately report safety concerns and malfunctioning equipment |

|Bring all needed materials to class |No personal cellphone/electronic use. |

|Be respectful and mindful of your teacher, equipment, & class |Tidy up before dismissal. |

|No food or drink in the lab. |No passes out of class-first 15 and last 15 minutes. |

|Follow all safety rules while working in the lab. |Follow all Student Handbook guidelines and procedures. |

DISCIPLINE PROCEDURE: A four step discipline process will be used. The four steps include a verbal warning, phone

call to parents, after school detention and behavior referral to the appropriate administrator. Behavior detrimental to learning will not be tolerated. This includes outbursts in class, inappropriate language towards anyone, or any behavior which the teacher deems as inappropriate for the learning environment.

ELECTRONIC DEVICE USAGE: Personal cell phones or other electronic devices are not allowed in the classroom. Students are provided with a school issued computer and/or laptop. Please bring headphones for technology uses only. Review Code of Ethics for Computers Users attached below.

HOMEWORK: Students will be assigned homework as deemed necessary for additional supportive learning.

CLASS COMMUNICATION, SOFTWARE AND TECHNOLOGY: Students are encouraged to sign up for Remind 101- Arch I Class code:@olaarch1. Industry standard software is utilized in the classroom for class assignments. Students are encouraged to download a free student version at .

EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS: A vital part of this CTAE course standard is assessing employability skills. Students will be required to adhere to Course Standard 1- Demonstrate employability skills required by business and industry. This standard will be integrated throughout this course.

Because I understand the importance of ethical behavior, and because I know that my actions can impact the learning of others, I will not…

1. Copy programs from the computer hard drive.

2. Install or create unauthorized files/programs.

3. Create file names that may be offensive to other users.

4. Deface the computer hardware (i.e. switching keys on the keyboard).

5. Remove hardware components (keyboards, mice, etc.).

6. Change software components making it impossible to operate the software (screen colors, icon deletion, password additions, etc.).

7. Use the Internet to visit pornography sites, check e-mail, watch videos, utilize messaging services, chat rooms, social media sites or any other inappropriate sites.

8. Download any files or games to your X:Drive from outside storage devices (i.e. Flash Drives).

9. Attempt to play games stored on a flash drive.

10. Change or delete files from other users.

11. Disconnect your machine from LanSchool.

12. Attempt to use a proxy to bypass the filter.

Pathway Completers have the opportunity to earn a cord at the end of their course pathway. Below are the requirements to obtain an honors cord

o Pathway completer in a CTAE course

o Maintain a 3.0 in the CTAE course

o Must be a member of a Career Tech Student Organization

Note: Maximum- 1 cord per student. Students will only be awarded 1 cord, regardless if multiple pathways are completed.
