August 13, 2018Dear Parents/Guardian of__________________________________, I am sending home your child's Reading Goal for Whooo’s Reading. This goal must be met by each student each nine weeks. Lexile Levels & Reading AssessmentYour child’s reading level is determined by the results obtained from the Georgia Milestones and the I-station Reading Assessment given throughout the school year. Whooo’s Reading & Language Arts Grade:Whooo’s Reading is averaged into your child's overall grade in Language Arts. Each student reads at his/her own level and takes the Whooo’s Reading tests at his/her own pace. They must read their first book by the first checkpoint (see below). Please note that the Whooo’s Reading (WR) website does not provide multiple choice questions. Students MUST answer constructed response questions with detailed answers to obtain credit. It is critical that students use complete sentences and address all components of each question in order to receive a passing score on the Whooo’s Reading test. Please review your child's Lexile Score along with the Reading Goal with him/her and return it to Ms. Calhoun as soon as possible. To meet the Reading Goal for each 9-weeks and to improve reading skills, please encourage your child to read at least 20 minutes every night.Thank you,Kristie Calhoun8th Grade Language Artskcalhoun@brooks.k12.ga.us I have read this letter, and I am aware of my child's Lexile Score and Whooo’s Reading Goal.Your Child's Lexile Score: ______________Your Child’s Reading Range: ______________________Your child’s AR Goal:1 non-fiction text within his/her range with a passing score on WR1 fiction text within his/her range with a passing score on WR371475168910Parent signature_______________________________________ Date: ____________________ Username: ______________________________________ Password: _________________________TitleLexile LevelCheck on This book is Fiction or Nonfiction…After reading this, I have ___ Whooo’s Reading points!Teacher’s Initial and Notes1st 9 Weeks Deadline: October 9,2018Checkpoint 1: 9/6/18F NFDeadline: 10/9/18F NF748665450850046589951511300050311054000500154305036004500384175036131500272415036131500-585082003900250825332105007620000194310000Student Reading LogAugust 7, 2018Dear Parents/Guardian of__________________________________, I am sending home your child's Reading Goal for Whooo’s Reading.
