PhoneShop: Doctor Who

Tuesday, 3 January 2012 New Series

Starting Tuesday 3 January at 8.30pm is the UK comedy series PhoneShop, the six-part comedy series about a dedicated bunch of Phoneshop

employees.

Store manager Lance (Martin Trenaman) has worked for the PhoneShop Group for a very long time. His friends, who have moved up to run companies

and own football clubs, may think that he's wasting his time, but Lance doesn't - he sees it as a sanctuary from his terrifying and demanding

wife, Shelley. Ashley (Andrew Brooke) and Jerwayne (Javone Prince) are the two 'sales professionals' of PhoneShop and battle it out daily for

the title of top salesman.

Ashley is a phone-selling machine and is always able to sell longer, more expensive contracts to any customer foolish enough to come through

the door. Jerwayne considers himself more of a ladies’ man, despite still sleeping on a single bed at his mum's. The object of his constant

affections is Janine (Emma Fryer) who's been stuck selling the less lucrative Pay-As-You-Go phones for the last three and a half years. She's

convinced that her next big move up the corporate ladder is just moments away, but realistically the only thing moments away is the net barrage

of bad chat-up lines and obscene gestures from Jerwayne, but still she lives in hope.

With top salesman Little Gary Patel in jail, for the first time the PhoneShop staff's position of No 1. salesperson is up for grabs. Lance's

secret weapon is a new recruit and graduate Christopher (Tom Bennett). Fresh from the world of academia, Christopher is a goldfish in the shark

tank of PhoneShop. Unfortunately it looks as if Christopher will be more of a damp squib, so it's left up to Ashley, Jerwayne and Janine to

ensure that every mug punter within five square miles gets locked down to the worst, most expensive mobile phone contract known to mankind.

Commercial Kings

Tuesday, 3 January 2012 New Series

Commercial Kings is a hilarious reality series that follows commercial-makers and internet stars Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal as they

road-trip across America helping deserving small businesses market themselves.

Every episode finds our duo meeting eccentric business owners and their employees, attempting to understand what makes each business unique and

what challenges the owners face in these tough economic times. They then develop, cast and produce an authentic and original commercial for the

business, all in a matter of days, from concept to completion.

In the first episode, Rhett and Link get into the minds of dog owners and cats to create local commercials for a cat boarding facility and a

doggie day care.

Margaret Hughes runs the Holiday Hotel for Cats, a cat boarding facility or ‘resort’, as she likes to call it. While communicating with cats

comes naturally to Margaret, she finds that persuading their owners to bring their cats to her 'hotel' is not so easy. That's where Rhett and

Link come in. For the commercial, they choose to bypass owners altogether and target their commercial directly at TV-watching cats.

Meanwhile, Judy Rudin's business, Super Shmuttle, makes normal doggie day care look like boot camp. With her large Astroturf front yard and

‘shmuttle’ vans, Judy treats dogs to a daily cage-free ‘van-tastic voyage’ complete with harmonica accompaniment. For her commercial, Rhett and

Link decide to guilt-trip dog owners into taking their beloved canine family members to Judy's day adventure for dogs.

Green Wing

Tuesday, 3 January 2012

Martin (Karl Theobald) is desperate and not just generally, although that is obviously still the case. Now he's worried that he hasn't got

anything to wear to Caroline's (Tamsin Grieg) housewarming party.

He needs a calming influence, a voice of reason; someone with a keen eye for fashion. Kooky Staff Liaison Officer, Sue White (Michelle Gomez)

offers to take him clothes shopping.

Will people do things at the party that they'll regret? Almost certainly. Especially Caroline.

That goes for those not attending the party, too.

Joanna (Pippa Haywood) has rashly demanded more mystery from her allegedly secret lover, so Statham (Mark Heap) overcomes a mild wool allergy

to don a balaclava and kidnap Joanna, forcing her at finger-point to drive to a secret destination in the wilderness... actually, a nearby

park.

This week which is worse - a media control freak, or a shame-inducing religious institution? That's the question for Lewis Black.

Publicly humiliating authors, or privately humiliating little boys? To decide, Paul F. Tompkins and Greg Giraldo go head to head in the court

of the honourable judge Lewis Black, the ultimate evaluator of evil.

Misbehaving Mums To Be

Wednesday, 4 January 2012 New Series

A team of three no-nonsense midwives take badly behaved, binge drinking, chain-smoking, over eating-pregnant women who haven't grasped the fact

that they are about to be a mum and whip them into shape.

The midwives hope to transform the mums' behaviour and hopefully reverse the dangers currently posed to their baby's life.

In each episode, three pregnant women are given a final chance to sort their lives out. They are confronted by the midwives who act as a shock

wake-up call. New technology enables them to see instantly the damage they are doing to their unborn child.

Each week the midwives set new challenges and goals for our mums-to-be, such as cut down then quit smoking, cut out the drinking, start walking

to the shops instead of driving, work fewer hours, eat vegetables for the first time and start to cook.

The series follows the mums through the labour, birth and one month into their child's life, looks at their transformation and assesses whether

the intervention has been successful.

This week we meet bar owner Juliet whose alcohol consumption is worrying; 20-a-day smoker Heather and chip-lover, Kayley.

The Last Man Standing: Brazil

Friday, 6 January 2012

Last Man Standing sends six adventurers to some of the most remote parts of the world to live with indigenous peoples, to train with them, and

to take part in their ancient sporting festivals.

These are real tribes with real dangers.

From wrestling deep in the Brazilian rainforest to Zulu stick fighting in South Africa and tribal cricket in the Pacific, the six must play by

the rules - local rules.

But their experiences are much more than a sporting challenge.

The adventurers enter the very heart of local societies, becoming part of them and performing all the rites and rituals that include shamans,

black magic, indigenous drugs and blood-letting - however dangerous they may be.

How will the men cope when pitted against the locals…and each other?

Do they have what it takes to gain the respect of the tribe; to become one of them?

The eight-part series charts the adventurers' intense experiences as they have to assimilate alien cultures - whether Amazonian, African or

Mongolian.

These are fit young people thrown into an extraordinary world.

Each experience is utterly transformational - for the mind, the body and the soul - but there can be only one winner…the last man standing.

Tonight, in the Brazilian rainforest, the six adventurers are challenged to wrestle with Kalapalo warriors at the Festival of Death. But first

they must prove themselves worthy to compete - an ordeal that involves being scoured with razor-sharp Piranha teeth.
