This will include; data collection, structure solution and report preparation on samples submitted to the NCS.50 %Supporting NCS advanced techniques research projects; performing data analysis and evaluating the results using specified methodologies, and contributing to the interpretation of results, the development of techniques and the choice of models and approaches. Take NCS work beyond routine crystallographic analysis to develop and deliver independently driven research work that contributes to the advanced techniques theme of the NCS. 35 %Supporting training events for NCS users through demonstrating and tutoring the application of crystallographic techniques.10 %Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.5%Internal and external relationshipsWork with the National Crystallography Service staff in general day-to-day operation of the laboratoryLiaise with selected NCS users (UK Chemistry academics), depending on whether work has been performed for themLiaise with specific internal and external academics as a component of supporting research in collaboration with themReport to NCS Research Scientist (Level 4 ERE).PERSON SPECIFICATIONCriteriaEssentialDesirableHow to be assessedQualifications, knowledge and experienceGraduate with a Bachelors or Masters degree in chemistry (or closely related subject)Practical crystallography experienceAbility to accurately analyse and interpret complex quantitative and qualitative data, presenting summary information in a clear and concise format.
