My student is struggling and needs extra help. How and when can he/she get extra practice?

Struggling students should do the following:

1. Review vocabulary every single night for 15-20 minutes.

2. Locate the “Extra Practice” link on my website.

3. Come in for additional help with Mrs. Green. She is available at 8:00 on Monday and Tuesday mornings or by appointment. During the day, she is also available 1st block, 5th block, and from 12:45-1:15pm.

Do students have to take a midterm and final exam in middle school?

For the 2015-16 school year, students now take benchmark exams at the end of the 2nd and 4th quarters. They no longer are 20% of the students’ semester grade like the midterm. However, these county-wide benchmark exams will count toward the students’ grade (in the form of a test).

Is this a high school credit class?

Yes.

How does this class affect my child’s high school GPA?

This course provides one credit toward fulfilling the foreign language requirements for an Advanced Studies Diploma. To receive an Advanced Studies Diploma, students must complete consecutive three years of one language or two years each of two different languages. The final grade a student receives in this course will go directly on the high school transcript and impact the high school GPA.

Students who begin Spanish 1 in 7th grade will have the opportunity to take AP Spanish senior year. Students who begin Spanish 1 in 8th grade will unfortunately not be able to take AP Spanish senior year.

Can students retake assessments?

Students can retake certain assessments. Please refer to the information found on my Web site under “Retake Guidelines.”
