Week of September 15th-19th

This Week

• In Reader’s Workshop, we practiced “lean and tell” & “turn and talk” with our Elbow Partners.

• Reviewed what types of things we find in books, the parts of a book, and the job of the author and illustrator.

• Read It’s Fall and talked about the changes that take place outside.

• Read Apple Trouble and made apples in yellow, green, and red.

• Sampled yellow, green, & red apples and graphed our favorite apples as a class.

• Made a class book of Apples Up on Top.

• Read The Apple Pie Tree and learned about the seasonal changes of an apple tree.

• Read Alphabet stories and reviewed the rest of our alphabet letters.

• Completed our predictable chart – The (object) is (color word). – where we practiced writing, reading, and rebuilding our sentences.

• Reviewed the color words blue, purple, black, white, brown & pink.

• Reviewed the attendance and calendar routine of our math program.

• Practiced different counting strategies and keeping track of what we count.

• Explored in our math workshops with various new math manipulatives, and sorted the manipulatives for common attributes.
