The StoryYou and your classmates (20 students in all) have joined your favorite teacher on a mythology cruise during the summer. You are going to travel the world over studying mythology. Unfortunately, a great tempest occurred and wrecked the boat. All of the ship’s crew took off in life boats. Your teacher got all the students to hang on to a piece of the wreckage. One student couldn’t hang on and dropped under the surface. Your teacher, undaunted by the waves and storm, bravely dived below and rescued him, but the teacher never resurfaced.A day later, after much crying on your behalf, you land upon some deserted island. Quickly the place is somewhat explored and a quick map is drawn up on some paper found. You notice several things. The island has plenty of fruit trees. It also has some wild boar that could be hunted for meat. This group now needs a leader. Your current team leader will start off as the leader on this island, but if he/she doesn’t perform well…The leader’s first job is to raise everyone’s morale. Since everyone is still sad over the loss of their favorite teacher, the leader suggests naming one of the woods in memory of your favorite teacher. Everyone feels a little better and will do as the leader says…for now. Now, as a team, decide upon a place to sleep and a place to build your rescue fire. Your objective is to keep as many people alive as possible and to get them rescued. The team that wins will get will get 5 bonus points on their Lord of the Flies test. Here is how you get win:50 points for getting rescued20 x the number of people left alive10 x each morale pointIn the case of a tie, the team rescued first wins.Work together – your lives (and grade) depend on it!MoraleMorale means your team’s spirit. Morale can go up or down. It is a leader’s best interest to keep everyone’s spirits high. If they lose their spirit, bad things could happen to the leader. A team leader who finishes at higher than 12 morale points will get a Divine Intervention. Morale starts at 20. Each week things can happen to make morale go up or down. No team will EVER have more than 20 or less than 0. Whatever your morale is at the end of the week, that is what your morale is at the beginning of the next week.If someone dies, morale is dropped 5 points per person dead.If morale gets to 10 or below, you MUST start drawing REVOLT cards. Do what you can to avoid drawing a REVOLT card!Things that drop morale:No food FearNo shelterActs of GodNot being rescuedThe death of a studentThings that raise morale:MeatSecurityActs of GodFunIncreasing chances of being rescuedFoodFood is important for life and happiness. You will need to send people out gathering fruits. Not getting enough fruit will cause your morale to go down by 3.Not going hunting will cause your morale to go down 5 points. It takes 5 people to properly hunt.ShelterEach shelter takes two people to build. Each shelter can hold up to 5 people.Be careful where you build your shelters! Bad things can happen if you choose the wrong place.Every person that goes without a shelter drops morale by one point. If you have extra people, you may wish to build more shelters in different areas just to cover your bases.RescueTo survive, you need must be rescued. A team that is not rescued will ultimately die. How do you get rescued? You need to attract attention. You may do this any way you want to, but the most logical method would be to have a signal fire. A signal fire requires two people to man it at all times. It should be some place high. Luckily, one person had a cigarette lighter (surely not for smoking!) and was able to use it to start a fire. If you have no fire at the end of the week, you lose 3 morale points. For every fire you are able to maintain give you 2 bonus morale points.ExplorationPart of the island is unexplored, and therefore not on your map. If you send out a team of 5 explorers, they can tell you what is on the remaining parts. Is it more food? Is it danger? Could another rescue possibility lie there? Are there monsters? Who knows? You will, if you are brave enough to send out explorers.OtherThings going well for your group? Be creative! Build a coconut powered car to ride around in. Find different ways to signal boats and planes. Things not going well? Try to figure something different out.Your Favorite Teacher’s GhostThe ghost makes all judgment calls. You can argue all you want to about how you all built fake wings and are going to use them to rescue yourselves, but the teacher has the last say about things like that. Did you draw the same card twice? The ghost decides if you are to draw again or stay with it. The ghost can be fair or unfair. It is a prerogative of the afterlife. ................
