News

I hope your family had a fun weekend! Our video conference based on the story, Jingle Bells, is on Tuesday, December 20 with a snow date of Wednesday, December 21. The author, Iza Trapani, will be present in the room with us during our video conference as we share our facts. She lives nearby in our county. Our class has Library on Thursday. Please have your child his or her book on this day.

Look What We Will Learn This Week!

Reading: Our class will compare and contrast nonfiction books to see if there are any similarities or differences. Also, we will be using information we learned from texts on the same topic to retell using facts.

Language Arts: Our class will finish learning how to write compound words. Moreover, we will learn about synonyms. In Writing, we will learn to how to add more information and descriptive details into our chapters.

Math: We will begin to subtract

two-digit numbers with and without regrouping.

Science: We will measure length and height in inches. Then, we will identify when to measure using inches and feet.

Social Studies: Our class will learn about the Bald Eagle as a symbol of the United States. In addition, we will compare and contrast the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.

Reminders

***Your child should be reading nightly and

recording it on the December P.A.R.P.

calendar.

***Be sure to check your child’s take home

folder daily and remove any graded work

or notices.

***Your child’s homework chart should stay

in his or her take home folder until the

end of the school week so daily

homework can be written down.

***Make sure your child is practicing his

or her addition and subtraction facts

to 18 using flashcards.

Word Study This Week

The fourth Fundations unit focuses on spelling words that have the suffixes of –s, -es, -ed, -ing, -er, and –est added to them. This week, we will learn about the three sounds of –ed.
