He earned degrees in philosophy and psychology from the?University of Scranton?and in theology and biblical theology from the?Pontifical Gregorian University?while living at the North American College from 1975 to 1980. He is the second American to lead the school.Bishop Robert Gruss (SAGINAW, CLASS 1994) was installed as Bishop of Saginaw on July 26. He was the vice rector and director of human formation at PNAC from 2007 to 2010. Gruss, 63, was Bishop of Rapid City since 2011. The Diocese of Saginaw spans 11 counties and 6,955 square miles in mid-Michigan, and has around 100,000 Catholics. Bishop Mark Brennan (WHEELING-CHARLESTON, CLASS 1974) Pope Francis appointed Baltimore Auxiliary Bishop Brennan to be the Bishop of Wheeling-Charleston on July 23.He will become the ninth bishop of the diocese, which had been the Diocese of Wheeling from its founding in 1850 until 1962, when it became the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. The title of his dissertation was “Ratio in Relatione; The function of structural paradigms and their influence on rational choice and the search for truth.” He has recently been appointed the pastor of St. Paul in Tell City, Indiana and the Dean of his deanery.Rev.
