PASTORAL VACANCY

The Truelight Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2001 West Main Street, Prichard,

Alabama is prayerfully seeking a Pastor. He must be called by God and a Baptist Minister to serve

as the spiritual leader of this congregation. He must have a vision to build and grow the

congregation, both spiritually and numerically. The candidate must adhere to the biblical

qualifications for pastor, as outlined in Jeremiah 3:15, 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

PASTORAL APPLICATION PACKET

TRUELIGHT MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH - HISTORY

In 1945, Truelight Missionary Baptist Church Inc. was organized and ordained

by God. Thirteen members gathered to form a new worship church truly inspired by

God. Thus the name Truelight Missionary Baptist Church was established. The Late

Rev. McKinsey McNeal was the first pastor and he served for approximately two

years. Four other Pastors led the church over a seven year period.

In 1953, the late Rev. Leroy Boykin became the Pastor and served for over

thirty-five years and passed away on December 8, 1988.

March 25, 1989, Rev. Michael A. Howard was called by God to Pastor the Truelight

Missionary Baptist Church. Truelight completed the vision in 1990 of the New

Church Home facing Main (Engine) Street and the membership roll has increased to

an overflow of God¡¯s Blessing. In 2020 Pastor Michael A. Howard received the

Pastor Emeritus status for his untiring loyal guidance and anointed leadership for

over thirty-one years.

From a membership of thirteen, to an overflow of God¡¯s Blessing, from leadership

of some of Mobile¡¯s finest Pastors ever known, from outdoor restrooms until 1990,

from two worship services a month, now weekly including Sunday School, Bible

Study for Women, Seniors and members of all ages, from anointed visions and

miracles and now after seventy-four years; we know we are blessed and highly

favored by The Almighty GOD. A lot has happened to shape and mold us to our level

of worship and grace, but the true story of Truelight will live beyond generations to

come.

For JESUS said, ¡°¡­and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell

shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of

heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and

whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.¡± Matthew 16:18-19

**Since Reverend Michael A. Howard¡¯s retirement, Truelight Missionary Baptist Church has

been guided by the Deacon Ministry and spiritually feed by her associate and guest Ministers.

THE MISSION STATEMENT

Having been led by the Spirit of God we therefore commit to serve together in love to

establish, develop, and empower ourselves through Christian Education and to seek the

salvation of our own that we may with one accord evangelize Prichard and surrounding

areas.

VISION STATEMENT

To Worship God In Spirit And In Truth:

It is our aim to create an atmosphere of praise and worship where every person will

experience the power and presence of God. This will produce a spirit of unity and

fellowship among the body.

To Seek The Salvation Of Our Friends And Kindred:

We will live in love and unity with all believers by studying the word of God and applying

it to our daily lives.

To Share The Love Of Christ:

We love HIM because HE first loved us and with loving kindness He has drawn us. Jesus

encourages us to love God with all our heart, soul and might and our neighbor as we love

ourselves. The love of God is without limits and our love for one another is also. We will

provide an environment where everyone can sense the loving presence of God through our

Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To Make Disciples:

We will do this by doing evangelism and outreach in our community and to support

missions worldwide. We will invite others to become personally involved in a loving

relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
