U.S. cut off the sale of war materials and oil to Japan. December 7, 1941. Japanese warplanes bombed naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Approximately 2,400 Americans died. Called December 7, 1941, “a date which will live in infamy.” U.S. entered WW II on December 8, 1941. President Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan. ................
