Sports Network

The Baylor Sports Network works closely with Baylor Athletics, Bear Foundation and “B” Association to keep alumni, constituents and Baylor fans engaged and informed on the status of the various Baylor sports programs. Many Sports Network events are sponsored by groups that are linked to Baylor Athletic, while the Network Events team takes an active role in creating and supporting the events through emails, on line registration and venue coordination.

Network Driven Events:

Signing Day:

National Signing Day Reception: (Standard) Head coaches of select Baylor athletic programs (i.e. Football, Track and Field and Soccer, etc.) gather at Floyd Casey Stadium to discuss the results of Signing Day and the future of Baylor athletics. The all day event includes a donated lunch with feature speakers (coaches) followed by a press conference. The Signing Day event is a free event, open to the public and sponsored by various Baylor groups including; Baylor Athletics, Bear Foundation, and various Field Excellence funds.

Signing Day Updates: (Standard) An event sponsored by the Bear Foundation, "B" Association, and the specified Excellence Fund, features program specific coaches who tour designated cities to speak about their Baylor program and Signing Day recruits. The "Voice of the Baylor Bears" and other Baylor VIPs will also occasionally be featured at these lunch or dinner events which is typically held at a hotel. Table sponsorships and paid registration are available through on line registration.

When describing these events in EPIC it’s important to note the following information:

**As per NCAA rules, this function is closed to the working media. NCAA regulations prohibit friends of the university from having any contact with recruits, including those individuals who have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the university. Contact between boosters and recruits may only occur after the recruit begins officially attending the university.

Coaches Events:

These events are scheduled based on the availability and desire of designated Baylor Head Coaches. Network Directors coordinate these events in collaboration with the Director of Baylor Athletics and the schedule of the select head coach.

Bear Blitz: (Standard) These coaches’ tours are typically held over a lunch and are conducted during the off season of the designated sport. Tours usually include visits to: Houston, Austin, SA, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Midland and Tyler.

Sport Luncheon: (Standard) Luncheons are conducted much like the Singing Day Update events and feature coaches (i.e. Baseball, Basketball, Football, etc.) who speak about the status of their program.

Spirit Events:

Tournament & Pregame Rallies: (Standard) This event is organized as a pregame opportunity for alumni to come together to eat and celebrate Baylor athletics on a game day.

Send Offs: (Promotional): Occur pre season or post season as a pre game event where Baylor fans, Yell Leaders and the Courtside band gather to celebrate Baylor athletic programs as they depart for games and tournaments. These are held both, in Waco or in cities where games are to commence. The ones in Waco are held in conjunction with Baylor Athletics.

Watch Parties: (Promotional) Watch parties are coordinated in conjunction with the Young Grads Network. Refer to Young Grads Network for more information.

Athletic Department Sponsored and Initiated Events/Network Supported:

Sports Banquets: (Standard) These Waco-based banquets are a time for celebrating the accomplishments of designated Baylor athletic programs. With a specific focus on graduating seniors, the general public is invited, as well as supporters of existing athletic support organizations.

Donor Focused Events: (Standard) These events are publicized to specific Athletic VIPs and clubs, and are there for not placed on the Network calendar.

Excellence Fund Events:

These events are coordinated by the specified Excellence Fund program and typically involve a lunch or dinner which is held to inform and involve program-specific VIP donors.

Excellence Fund clubs include (but are not limited to):

• Line Backers Club: Football

• Heart of the Order: Baseball

• Diamond Club: Softball

• Fast Break Club: Men’s Basketball

• Tip Off: Women’s Basketball

• Chip in Club: Men’s Golf

• Track and Field: Track and Field

Team Dinners: (Promotional) These dinners are held in select cities where games or tournaments are being held and serves VIP donors who travel with the team to the event. Coach attended but not team.

Excellence Fund Club Meetings: (Standard) These meetings are for members only and those planning to join; they often include meal, video of game clips and the coach’s presentation.

Golf Tournaments:

Supported by the Baylor Network Administrative Team, these golf tournaments are sponsored by various Baylor groups and coordinated by a contracted professional golf tournament coordinator. The Network Office Manager monitors registration and finances, while members of the Network team attend the event as volunteer assistance.

Curtis Hankamer Golf Classic: This Houston-based tournament is sponsored by and benefits the Baylor Golf team.

Fightin’ Bear Golf Classic: (Standard) This Waco-based tournament is sponsored by the Baylor B Association.

Other Helpful Information:

• B-Association: Members of the B-Association are Baylor Alumni letter winners.

• Bear Foundation: Focused on raising scholarship funds for Baylor Athletes.

• Excellence Funds: Are established for each Baylor sports program and used to fund the purchase of non-budgeted items throughout the year.
