LIFE AND MAINTENANCE OF FILTERS

HEPA FILTER

This filter is used to trap 99.97% of invisible pollutants as small as 0.3 micron like PM2.5, PM10, allergens, tobacco smoke, dust mites, pet dander and pollen. Sharp uses highest graded H14 HEPA filter with large surface area and it has life upto 2 years.

ACTIVE CARBON FILTER

Active Carbon filter also known as Charcoal Filter or De-odorizing filter, contains charcoal granules with pores in it. These pores make very large surface area to trap smell & chemical odor. It has a life of 2 years.

FINE MESH PRE-FILTER

Pre-filter is a fine mesh net commonly seen in air conditioner. Sharp pre-filters can trap particles upto 50 microns like Pet hair, large duct particles or dust coarse. It can be used for life time so no recurring cost.

? Clean the HEPA filter with dry

brush or dry cloth every 7-10 days to

remove the adhering fine particles.

? Expose to bright sunlight for 3 to 4

hours at least once in 30 days

? Do not wash with water, high

pressure vacuum cleaners or

blowers as it will damage the

surface of filter and efficiency will

decrease.

? Please check the direction of HEPA

while installing it back in the

frame/cavity

? Kindly clean the frame with wet

cloth and install the HEPA when it is

completely dry.

? Clean the Carbon filter with dry

brush or cloth every 7-10 days for

optimum results.

? Do not wash with water, high

pressure vacuum cleaners or blowers

as it will damage the surface of filter

and efficiency will decrease.

? Pre filters can be washed with

water every 7 ? 10 days.

? Kindly place it back when it is

completely dry else, HEPA filter may

get damaged.

FILTER LIFE DEPENDS ON FOLLOWING FACTORS

? Environmental conditions of your city (like high Haze, Smog etc.) ? Area, Locality or surrounding situation

? If construction work nearby or renovation is going on at home ? Lifestyle factors? like Pet owners / Smokers

? Excessive usage of incandescent sticks / aggarbatti / dhoop in the room ? Using air purifier while window and door is open ? If regular maintenance is not done

WHEN DO WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE HEPA FILTER

Standard life of Sharp HEPA filter is 2 years and Replace Filter Indicator (available only in FP-J30M-B model only)will turn on during that time, however depending on various factors the filters may need to be changed earlier than recommended time. If you feel the output airflow has

reduced by 60% or more even after cleaning the filters, that is the best time to change the HEPA filter.

? Ventilate your room for 3 - 4 hours daily to dilute the toxics and carbon dioxide ? Always use air purifier in your bedroom where we spend about a third of our life ? Always use in an enclosed room (door & windows should be closed). ? For better results place the air purifier in such a place where there is no airflow blockage & it is visible from all corners of the room. ? Always keep a distance of minimum 1 feet from the back wall for effective suction of pollutants ? Regular maintenance for filters as suggested in above section ? Don't use the air purifier in open space ? Avoid using in kitchen ? Avoid using in moist or wet areas ? Do not wash HEPA & Carbon filters with water ? Avoid puncturing the filters with sharp objects
