For Students (read in the morning over our PA system)

Attention 8th Graders--Are you interested in high school summer camps or fall athletics? Please have your parents register you online through Skyward Family Access as soon as possible. Once you've registered through Skyward, you need to contact your high school and let them know you've registered.

Check out the variety of activities posted just outside of the boys' locker room. There are plenty of camps, workshops, leagues and activities to keep you busy. These are taken from Bellingham's Summer Leisure Guide. Some are starting up shortly.

The counseling office would like to remind all 7th and 8th grade students who have enrolled in the College Bound Scholarship Program to please turn in your signature page to the counseling office. If you have any questions or need a brochure or new signature page, please see Ms. Foote.

For Parents:

Last Thursday in 8th grade football action, Whatcom defeated Kulshan by a final score of 20-0, pushing their season record to 1-1-1 and into second place in the league. Whatcom dominated the game on both sides of the ball and marched out to a three touchdown lead in the second half. Whatcom's defense gave Kulshan trouble all game long, securing multiple turnovers and stopping the Thunderbirds on drive after drive, often deep in Kulshan territory. On offense, Billy S. had two long touchdown runs, aided by stellar linemen work in the trenches. Wyatt S. also had a nice touchdown scamper on the last play of the game, running over a couple

of would-be tacklers to the corner of the end zone. Great game, guys, and best of luck this week as you look for revenge against the Fairhaven Grizzlies at Fairhaven.

Last Friday in 7th grade football action, the Wildcats also defeated Kulshan by a final score of 36-6, pushing their season record to 2-1 and into second place like their 8th grade teammates. Offensive standouts for the game were Cooper F. and Alex B., who scored nearly every time they touched the ball. Whatcom's offensive line also deserves a ton of credit for opening up massive holes for their teammates to run through. The Wildcats' defense once again proved to be too much for their opponent, stifling the Thunderbirds on nearly every play and securing the victory for Whatcom. Great game, guys, and best of luck as you once again take on the Fairhaven Grizzlies this Friday at Fairhaven.

Improv Club starts May 2nd. It meets Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 30th. Students can sign up in the main office or just drop in. A parent permission form is required for participation.

The WMS Garden is asking for donations of garden tools. If you have any new or used tools that you would like to donate, please bring them to the WMS Main Office. They are looking for donations of:

Sturdy Trowels (15) Pitch forks (5) Shovels, flat and pointed (5 each) Hoes (5) Rakes (2) Broadfork (1) Compost sifter (1) Gloves (many) Five Gallon Buckets (many)

Students are expected to turn their cell phones off and not use them during the school day.

Please call the office if you need to contact your student. We will have your student return your call as soon as possible. Phones will be confiscated if a student is seen using it during school hours. A parent or guardian will then need to come in and sign for the phone. Thank you for your cooperation.

Please remember to not drive in front of the school in the morning. Because there are many

students walking back and forth across the road, the road is closed to all traffic except school buses.

Do you think you might volunteer at WMS this year? Volunteers need to register at a least one week prior to service and this year there is a new online registration system (No more paper packets!). Go to the Bellingham School District website/Jobs to register or click on this link:

I HAVE TO PULL MY STUDENT OUT OF SCHOOL EARLY ? WHAT DO I DO? When students need to leave school early ? please send a signed note with them the day they need to leave early. Students take the note to the attendance window first thing in the morning in exchange for a "permission to leave" slip. This slip is shown to the teacher and your student leaves the premises at your specified time to meet you outside at your prearranged location. You do not need to come in.

Bus Passes:

Requests for bus passes must be submitted in the morning. Any requests after school will be denied. Students must bring a signed note from parent/guardian to the attendance window before school starts. Mrs. Erickson will write out a bus pass which can be picked up later in the day.
