Honors Chemistry SyllabusAHS Room A209 Ms. Ferguson 2015Section I: Course DescriptionThis elective course is a traditional book based chemistry course designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the subject. Many students choose to enroll in this course to begin acquiring the background knowledge required to pursue careers requiring a strong science background, including many careers in the sciences, engineering, or the medical field. As such, this course follows a rigorous pace that is designed to adequately prepare students who are planning to take chemistry courses in college. As a pre-requisite, students should have previously completed Honors 10 Biology/Chemistry before enrolling in Honors Chemistry. In this course, students will learn about the major concepts of chemistry by building upon the basic knowledge they have acquired in previous courses. The content covered in this course will be presented through a variety of means, including required readings, problem sets, lectures, and laboratory experiments. Because many concepts require the application of mathematical principles, strong math skills are highly recommended for students who choose to enroll in this course.
