2. (a) I am a former resident/national of the Republic of South Africa.

(Import authorisation will be considered only if the applicant spent an uninterrupted period of not less than six months overseas for study/training, research or employment purposes and the motor vehicle has been owned, used and registered in his/her name for the same, corresponding period mentioned above.) Copies of relevant documentation (motor vehicle registration certificate, a copy of my RSA passport and proof of my work abroad) are attached. All information pertaining to import duty and value added tax payable is obtainable from your nearest Controller of Customs or from Customs and Excise, Private Bag x 923 Pretoria 0001 or telephone +27 12 422 4000.

4. I undertake not to offer, advertise, lend, hire, lease, pledge, give away, exchange, sell or otherwise dispose of the vehicle within a period of two years from the date of importation into the Republic.

5. Temporary residents are advised to consult with their local controller of Customs and Excise with regard to the

temporary importation of a motor vehicle.

6. The importation of all vehicles is subject to the issuing of a letter of Authority from the NRCS at Private Bag

X 25, Brooklyn 0075 South Africa, or telephone +27 12 428 7911. Left hand drive vehicles may no longer be registered in the RSA.

7. With the understanding that permit notifications are not posted to addresses outside the Republic of South Africa.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

YOUR APPLICATION CANNOT BE ADJUDICATED WITHOUT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION:

A returning resident must submit a copy of his/her South African passport or identity document (page with photo and details), letter from employer confirming permanent employment abroad reflecting the period of employment (date from and to), a copy of the official foreign vehicle registration certificate and the duly completed application form (Salary advices, payslips, job offers, job contracts, tax returns, work permits etc. is not sufficient proof of employment). Please see the application form information document on .za for more information.

Bona fide immigrants must submit a copy of the South Africa permanent residence certificate, copy of foreign passport (page with photo and details), copy of official foreign motor vehicle registration certificate and the duly completed application form.

Hard copy permits are no longer issued.
