COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER - ROLE PROFILEIntroduction to Home-Start Glasgow South:Home-Start Glasgow South (HSGS) is a family support charity, helping give children the best possible start in life. Families, with at least one child under 8 years of age are supported by trained volunteers who understand how difficult raising children can be. Families are supported in their own homes for up to 3 hours each week, or can attend our various group sessions throughout the southside. We help families experiencing issues including isolation, mental health issues, bereavement, family breakdown, addiction and physical ill-health.We operate across the south of Glasgow as an independent charity which is also part of a loosely federated charity structure (Home-Start UK). We have been operating for 18 years and grown steadily to become the largest Home-Start in Scotland and one of the largest in the UK. Our Mission:We support parents and carers in enabling children to enjoy the best possible start in lifeOur Values:Our people work with parents/carers and their children not for them.Brilliant parents are made not born.We believe the wellbeing of our children today determines the state of the world tomorrowReports to: Funding and Development ManagerResponsibility:This is a key role to support the growth of our income from community and corporate sources. The candidate will:Diversify our income by securing funding from local businesses, challenge events and community participation.Assist the Funding and Development Manager to establish ‘cases for support’ which can be sent to family trusts/foundations and significantly increase the volume of funding asks. Present ‘cases for support’ around key themes e.g. mental health and educational attainment to local businesses and community groups.Create and promote a calendar of fundraising events and challenges to raise unrestricted income.Maintain prospects pipeline of potential new supporters and develop a strategy for cultivating potential supporters towards making an “ask” for funding.Detailed responsibilities:Build relationships with local businesses to secure fundraising income and staff volunteering opportunities.Promote the impact of Payroll Giving and other employee fundraising opportunities.Create opportunities with local businesses for Charity of the Year.Build links within local communities of South Glasgow to raise awareness of HSGS and recruit fundraising volunteers. Establish a volunteer fundraising committee to drive forward community fundraising.Identify and submit applications to unrestricted small trusts with a value of ?1k - ?5k. Assist in creating marketing material which gives opportunities for the local community to sign-up for monthly giving appeals, the option to leave a legacy and payroll giving.Help maintain a section of the website which displays a range of upcoming fundraising challenges, corporate support and volunteering opportunities.PERSON SPECIFICATIONThis is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative candidate to identify and implement new income streams for the organisation and have a pivotal role in the charity’s planned expansion to support more families and children. They will be a strong communicator with the ability to relate, with personal credibility, to community members and senior personnel in the private sector. They will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to develop relationships through proposals, presentations and budget management. You should be able to inspire and engage current and new supporters about the value of donating to HSGS to help us to continue to make a difference to the lives of children and families in South Glasgow. The successful candidate will preferably have community fundraising experience, a dynamic personality who enjoys new challenges and has the ability to ‘think outside the box’.
