You need the following medications which are found at pharmacies & grocery stores: MIRALAX ? one capful equals 17 grams EX LAX- comes in chocolate, and has 15 mg of sennoside (laxative) per square MAGNESIUM CITRATE ? comes in many flavors

THE DAY BEFORE THE PROCEDURE

1. Start clear liquid diet as soon as child awakens. Clear liquids include the following: ? Apple or white grape juice ? Tea ? Gelatin (Jello) -not RED! ? Pedialyte & Pedialyte Pops ? not RED ? Popsicles without milk or pulp ? not RED ? Clear broth ? Okay for clear soda such as Sprite and 7-Up ? No milk allowed ? Avoid red drinks; this complicates evaluation of the colon lining during the procedure.

2. Start the bowel cleansing preparation: ? 8:00 AM, before starting Miralax, take ___squares of Ex-Lax ? 9:00 AM Start Miralax o Mix _____ capfuls in _____ oz of clear liquids - juice, sport drinks, Crystal Light, water. o Take ______of the above doses of Miralax every 30-60 minutes. ? One hour after the last Miralax dose, give 2nd dose of Ex Lax. (See above for dose.) ? 4:00 PM If stools are not clear, give _______ oz magnesium citrate orally.
