Parents,

We are so proud of our students, staff, and school community at Lincoln Heights Middle School.  It is our goal to meet all students where they are and move them forward both academically and socially.  Our staff is committed to doing what it takes to make sure every student moves from “Good to Great.”

This school year we are charged with preparing our students to “Impact Local and Reach Global.” We are off to a fantastic start.

I look forward to working with you and your child during the upcoming school year.  Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions or concerns.  I desire to develop a positive working relationship between the home and school to provide your child with the best opportunity to be a successful student at Lincoln Heights Middle School. Thank you for your support. – Mr. Ely

Student Council Movie Night

From the Principal’s Desk:

November 23rd-25th

Enjoy your break!

Saturday, November 19th

5:30-7:45 p.m.

Student Council has been going above and beyond this school year. Members put together a great Back to School Dance in September and were able to raise enough money to buy t-shirts for the entire LHMS family. In October, members volunteered with the Morristown Humane Society by setting up at Wal-Mart to promote pet adoption, take up donations, and to help find a puppy a FURever home. Officers have been in contact with numerous local organizations to schedule more volunteer opportunities. In December, members are going to Life Care Center of Morristown to visit and play board games with the residents. Student Council is also sponsoring a family movie night this month. On Saturday, November 19th, we will be showing the movie Finding Dory. Students and families are invited to bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy a movie, popcorn, and soda! Admission is $6. Children under the age of 6 get in free.

Student Council has also started “Lincoln Leaders”. Members vote on one teaching and non-teaching faculty member to honor each month. This is based on the leadership qualities that person possesses. The Lincoln Leaders chosen this year have been:

Jason Martin and Carroll Singleton – September

Derek Voiles and Joe Ely – October

2016 – 2017 Student Council Offiers

Madyson Greenlee – President

Will Hunley – Vice President

Hazel Mitrik – Secretary

LHMS BETA’S HAVE BEEN BUSY!

The 2016-17 BETA induction ceremony was held on Friday, November 4th. We are excited to welcome all new members!

Mrs. Hixon, along with BETA members, coordinated a fantastic Veteran’s Day program on Friday, November 11th, to honor all of our school family’s veterans.

BETA members will be traveling to Nashville next week, November 20th-22nd, for the state BETA convention. Members from LHMS BETA club will be competing in numerous competitions during this time, and we wish them the best of luck! We also want to cheer Will Hunley along as he runs for state BETA Chaplain. We know that “where there’s a WILL, there’s a way!” Good Luck Will, and all BETA members!

Our service project for December will be “Stockings for Seniors.” These will be handed out at the local nursing home to help spread a little cheer during the holiday season.

Parents/Guardians of 6th Grade Students:

Please make arrangements for your child to update his or her Immunization record. All 6th graders are required by TN State Law to have their Tdap and Varicella boosters by the time they enter 7th grade. Some 6th graders have already received the Varicella and will only need the Tdap.

It is very important that all 6th graders have the new Immunization record on file at their school by the last day of school, May 19, 2017. Your health care provider or the Hamblen County Dept. of Health will provide the immunizations and the new form.

Please feel free to contact Ms. Ferguson, School Counselor, if you have any questions. (423) 581-3200

A Note from the Coaches:

We are so proud of this year's Lady Patriots Volleyball girls. They played hard and gave their ALL every game. We honored them with a banquet on November 11th in the school cafeteria. Thank you to all players and parents that were able to attend!

We are equally proud of the season that our Cross Country team endured. They had the heart of champions with each meet. Our state qualifiers showed "Patriot Pride" in practice and competition. Their banquet was also held on November 11th at LHMS cafeteria with the volleyball girls. Thanks to all who were in attendance for this.

Much love to all,

Coaches Doug & April Swint
