(X) paragraph form (topic sentence) / content - no concluding sentence/ Partner interview (title capitalization)Lee Jae-H(h)yeonThis week I spoke with Ku Yeo-sun, and I found him to be enterprising. (form)He is twenty-three years old and lives in Songpa-gu, Seoul with his parents. He may have been lonely (growing up?) because he was an only son (word choice - an only child) and had no siblings, but he is very satisfied with his life because he is loved by parents. He became very interested in watching baseball since he went to the baseball stadium with his father as a child. His favorite baseball team is the Doosan Bears and Washington Nationals. His dream is also a job related to baseball. As a simultaneous interpreter, he wants to help foreign players adapt to the Korean team. He is studying English in Korea University for his dream and is preparing for Spanish as a double major.(Why does he want to learn Spanish?) His most memorable memory (event?) is that (when) he set his own life goals three years ago with his five best friends from junior high school(.) and (They) kept(planted?) a time capsule together and decided to open it 10 years later. (why?) His dream is to build a mansion in a quiet place. (How can you best make a transition from the last sentence to the next? Refer to the transition phrases)Next is his strengths? and ?weaknesses. His advantage is that he is sincere in what he is given(meaning unclear…is sincere the best word?), and his disadvantage(weakness) is his lack of flexibility.(What are some examples of these strengths and weaknesses in his life?) And finally, his plan this year is to do volunteer work teaching English to students in Venezuela.(concluding sentence)(X) paragraph form (topic sentence) & concluding sentence/ capitalization My hometown, SeoulLee Jae-hyunHello, my name is Lee Jae-Hyun and I live in Seoul. (form - topic sentence)Seoul, my hometown, is the largest capital city of Korea and there are now 9.74 million people living in Seoul. First, I will tell you the origin of (T)the name of my hometown, Seoul. It originated from Seorabal, the capital of Silla, and was later called Seobul, a Chinese character, and later changed to Seoul, a Korean word. As I said earlier, Seoul, the largest (size or population? Repeated below) region (in Korea), was divided into five administrative districts during the Joseon Dynasty, but it is now divided into 25 autonomous districts and 436 dongs. Let me tell you about the overall atmosphere and culture of Seoul. It is a large city that accounts for one fifth of the population of Korea and has a complex and diverse modern culture. As such, Seoul is the largest political, economic, and social center in Korea, so many politicians and entertainers have settled in Seoul and are living there. Changdeokgung Palace, Jongmyo Shrine, Joseon Royal Tombs and Namhansanseong Fortress are among Korea's leading(most important?) sites designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites, while Lotte Sky Tower and Dongdaemun Design Plaza are popular tourist attractions these days. The reason the two places are gaining attention is because the Lotte Sky Tower is 123 stories tall and offers a full view of the entire city and DDP is a place that provides cultural content such as shopping and performances that Koreans prefer these days. Like this, My hometown of Seoul is an attractive city that remembers Korea's past and leads the future.(paragraph form error..why start a new paragraph?)(X) form – title? / indent / romanization / verb tense / word choice? This week I spoke with Lee Jae Hyun (Jae-hyun), and I found him to be energetic and friendly. He has good (He is in good physical condition) physical conditions and athletic ability, so he is good at various sports. He likes many ball sports such as basketball, soccer and badminton. Badminton is (his favorite) the best among them. He is a member of the badminton club which has been(was)created last year. Traveling to several places is his another hobby. He has been in varied (to various countries) countries such as Australia, France, Spain, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. He does(is) not afraid of the unfamiliar surroundings. He likes to meet diverse people wherever he is and tries to be intimate with them. He aims to be a flight attendant. He has made a lot of efforts since he decided to have this career. He got a high score on the public certification test(s) such as?TOEIC and TOEIC SPEAKING. He is studying HSK (explain?) these days in order to be?proficient?in Chinese. He also did plenty of volunteer works related to it. He was favorably commented by others for treating other people hospitable.(awkward phrasing…he was complimented by others(who?) for his hospitality) I think that he will have a great career as a flight attendant due to his sociable and warmhearted(add hyphen -) personality. ?(X) form – title? / indent / This week I spoke with Choi Seo-yeong, and I found her (to be) thoughtful. Although she didn’t answer all of my questions – I told her that it is okay to omit some of them – I could draw a picture of her. (awkward phrasing…It was easy to understand a lot about her from her answer) Speaking of basic facts, she was born in Busan and moved to Daejeon when she was in high school. The reason why I described her as “thoughtful” is that she originally planned to take a standardized test like TOEIC last winter vacation. Spending time and effort to “gain specs” (what does this mean?) still is foreign to me. The other reasons include (are) that she sleeps earlier than I've expected: around midnight. Considering that I often stay awake past 4 a.m., this is a great deal to me since I have always failed to change my sleep schedule on my own. Thus, she is much more diligent than me; she even attends online courses (at) other than the (along with Korea University classes.) university’s classes. Furthermore, she is also more conscientious than me; she isn’t on any SNS, and already has a driver’s license, unlike me. Her hobby too is rather cultured: studying desserts and European cultures. Nonetheless, outside of that, I wouldn’t consider her as a remarkably interesting person since I already have so many interesting people around me as of now. (This is more about you than her, so perhaps comes across as a little unflattering.) For example, considering her conscientiousness, it isn’t a surprise that her favorite musician is IU, the singer who is now famous for being thoughtful and mature. In conclusion, she is more diligent than me; I might even start to grow envious of that. However, I am sure that she will stay more conscientious than me for the foreseeable future.(X)Title? / “ “ unnecessary punctuation / word choice / My hometown is Busan, which is famous(word choice …is the second most populous city) after Seoul. Busan is located in the south of Korea and has about 3.4 million people. It's a very big city. People remember (know) Busan as the place where "Haeundae" is. Haeundae is one of the big seas in Busan. Every summer, people come here to enjoy summer vacation, so we can see more people's parasols than sand beaches, and more tubes than seawater. I remember playing with fireworks in this(at the beach?) sea when I was young. Next, there are "Nampodong" and "Seomyeon" in Busan. These two areas are typically where young people play a lot. I used to go to Seomyeon often and there were so many shops and restaurants that I used to make appointments with my friends. Gwangandaegyo Bridge is also a keyword (place?) that reminds people of Busan. Gwangan Bridge is a bridge that connects two areas of Busan. It is very beautiful because the bridge is lit at night. People think of the restaurant as a "Hot place" (hot spot) where people can eat where they can see the bridge. I was born here, but I moved to Sejong as a teenager, so I am not there now. However, my grandparents and relatives are still living in Busan, so I go to Busan there every Chuseok or New Year's Day. Every time, my grandfather tells me to eat raw fish. (develop this….why mention it? Do you like it? Hate it?...) Busan is a place that remains a good memory for me.?I hope the person people who reads this will have a good experience in Busan, too!?(X) content – provide some more detail or context for a fact for better cohesion or flow / sentence fragments / My partner <Lee Eun-seo> ( unnecessary punctuation & capitalize)??This week I spoke with Lee Eun-seo, and I found her to be healthy. She is twenty-two years old. Her major is Archaeology and Art History. And Eun-seo and I belong to the same College of Culture and Sports. She was born in Cheongju, Korea. Cheongju is close to Sejong.(Try to develop this fact- Does she live in Jochiwon or does she commute to campus every day?) She has seven reliable friends, and she has been to Singapore with her friends, and She wants to travel with them again. (Why does she want to travel again? What happened during her trip?) I think she likes to travel. Because she said she wants to be a travel photographer. (fragment)And she said she would like to travel around the world if she had a billion won.(fragment) I'm sure she like traveling. I asked her how much she could drink, and she said she could drink half a bottle of soju. In addition, she said she doesn't enjoy drinking. Drinking is not an interesting thing for her. She usually watches movies or cleans her room on weekends. It (She?) seems to enjoy a quiet and relaxing weekend. She's not dating anyone now. And she won't get married later. She wants to live alone. But she likes animals. So she wants to live with a pet, but she can't because her mother has an allergic, and she has never had one before. She usually falls asleep between 1 or 2 a.m. She wants to be a happy and healthy (synonym??) person.(X) article/ many content questions (listed below) / missing commas / concluding sentenceThis week I spoke with Park?Da-eun, and I found her she is my friend. Her major is English Studies which is (the) same as me. She was born in 2001(,) and she lived in New Zealand for about eight years. She tried to attend university in New Zealand however, as she needs(ed) to come back to Korea, she had to give up. (Where in NZ? What was it like? What did she learn about living there?....so many possible questions) Therefore, she is attending Korea University and majoring English studies because it is her favorite subject.(What does she want to do with her degree in English?) She has a boyfriend(,) and they are in the same school club. (What is their club?) However, she is not sure if she is going to marry him because she told me she had already promised to marry with her bed. This shows her favorite things to do is sleeping. (Why is she always so tired?) Her best friend in this school is me(,) and we text each other everyday. She plays (the) Korean drum(,) and she is really good at it. She?started?learning it when she was in New Zealand(,) and she is still doing this for the school club. She cannot drive yet, but she will practice it soon.?(concluding sentence?)(X)word-choice / preposition/ ….Interviewing My Energetic, Lively, and Hard-Working PartnerThis week I spoke with Shin Min-seo, and I found her to be energetic, lively, and hard working. Min-seo is a student at Korea University Sejong Campus, majoring in English Language and Literatures. She was born in Daejeon, 2001, and now lives in Cheonan which is quite close to Jochiwon where her campus is located. Surprisingly, Min-seo is a very premeditated (word choice – career-oriented / goal – oriented) girl (woman)who has a distinct dream of working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and for the UN even further. In order to do this, she is planning to double major in International Studies once she gets her degree on(in) her current major. At the campus, her best friends are Park Da-hye and me. Almost every day, Min-seo calls or messages her friends, and if needed, she tries to cheer them up and deal with their problems as if the problems were hers. Hence, her friends enjoy being around her and also are willing to be on her side when she needs them. In her free time, Min-seo usually goes to either café or karaoke when she hangs out with her friends. Min-seo likes strawberries, considering that (and) her most favourite drink (to order) when visiting café is (a) strawberry latte, and (so) that many people gave her strawberry related foods as her birthday present. To sum up, Min-seo shows her enthusiasm towards her studies and future career, while being an energetic and reliable(friend.) girl to her friends. (X) paragraph form (write in a single paragraph) / romanization/sentence fragment / Partner InterviewThis week I spoke with Shin Min-seo, and I found her to be an active and sociable person. She gave me simple and clear answers, so it was very convenient to do the interview. She is twenty years old, and she was born in Dae-Jeon (Daejeon). But now, she lives in Cheonan. (sentence fragment ) She hopes to introduce Daemyeong resort water park. (Meaning unclear / undeveloped idea…She wants to tell you about it?)Usually she watches a American drama(s) like ‘Gilmore Girls’ on weekends. And (As well ) her hobby is texting with her friends. She said her strengths are good sociability and active always whatever it is. (Cohesion – How can you connect the ideas?) She has never (gone backpacking) done backpacking travel, but (she has travled through most of Europe?) most of Europe has traveled. And she wants to live in Canada, because she lived (there) when she was young and it was the best place to live in according to her experience. Especially her favorite place in Canada is Victoria. Her major is English studies, and she said English was the only thing that she can show off during the university admission period. So she has a goal of working especially as a member of UNICEF member states for children in developing countries. And she will take extra classes during summer vacation like Academic English 2. After(our) interview, I think she is (a) very active and planned(goal -oriented) person. I hope to get closer with her (in class) by taking classes. (X) topic sentence / sentence fragment s / Use reported speech The reason she…. / My classmate, Hur Su-binI had an interview with Hur Su-bin this week (…and I found her to be…..) . She was born in March 2000 and is currently attending the Korea University in Sejong, her major is English Department. And she lives in Jochiwon-eup because her home is so far from school. She loves her older sister so much that they spend a lot of time together. So her sister is going to come to Su-bin's room and spend time with her this week. When I asked her why she and her sister are close, she said, “The reason we can get along well together is because we like same thing. And the biggest reason is that we both like animals.” She loves dogs so much that she always wants to raise them, but she can't because of her mother's opposition. Instead, she?went to a dog cafe or volunteered at the dog shelter. I can't believe she is volunteering for an abandoned dog!(plural) I thought (think – verb tenase) she was great person. There is some leisure activity that she got (word choice – does? Enjoys?)because of her sister, and one of them is to watch American dramas. When Su-bin was a high school student, her sister introduced her (to) “Super Natural”. (what is that?) After that, she still enjoys watching foreign dramas. Now she spends more time with her sister, since she can't go out because of the coronavirus, but she usually play with friends. But, her friends prefer to stay at home. Furthermore, after they enter (ed)university, they are scattered to other regions and cannot meet often. Luckily, one of them works part-time at a convenience store almost every day in Seoul. So she can meet her whenever she visits. At the end, she said, “I hope the coronavirus crisis ends soon and I?want to?meet my friends again!”(X) punctuation/ prepositions / word order / My Classmate <Lee Seul-gi> ( incorrect punctuation)?Lee Sae-ran????? ? ? ?This week I interviewed Lee Seul-gi, and I found her to be bright, affable, and sociable. Her hometown is Daejeon which is she(word order/preposition – she is living in now.) living now. Her major is Korean Language and Literature. She usually hangs out with friends or spends time by herself on the weekend. While she hangs out with her friends, she likes to chat at a café. Then, she enjoys reading books or to watch music videos on YouTube at home. Her favorite singer is Harry Styles who is a British singer. However, she often more (word order) listens to Sigrid’s music than him lately. Her(Our / We share the…) favorite book is(the) Harry Potter series like me. She doesn’t have a driver's license, but when she gets a licens(one) she wants to go on(to) a beach. Unlike me, she doesn’t have any pets, but if she has a chance, she would like to have a cat. She has not been to travel a lot, but her( favorite trip was to_ travel destination that she visited is Macau. She said that the most enjoyable experience was the Indoor Canal at the Venetian Macao Hotel. She said that it was fun to ride a G(g)ondola with her family. Next, her favorite movie is “Begin Again” which is an American musical comedy-drama. Her favorite scene is when Dan and Gretta walked around the night streets while listening to music together. Even though we haven’t met in the face yet, but it was a great time to know my classmate in(by) an e-mail.(X)punctuation / word order / My Classmate <kwon Dae-you> ( incorrect punctuation)? This week I spoke with Kwon Dae-you, and I found him to be active and positive. He is twenty-four years old and comes from Seoul. His major is Sports Science, and he said he came to this university because he wanted to learn more about this field. He likes to do any sports. Especially he (especially) likes ball-related sports to match his major, and he usually does (plays)soccer on the weekends. These days, he can't go out because of the coronavirus, so he just wants to go outside. It would be frustrating if someone who likes to exercise couldn't go outside. Kwon Dae-you is always positive, and he wants to be a person who can help others. I think it is something very great, and I think he can be that person because he is positive and bright.(transition phrase) He had a traffic accident twice as a child. The sequela still remains in his inside, but he drives three times a week, and he said he will buy a car if he has one billion won. If I were him, I wouldn't be able to do well because of the memory of the accident, but I think he is overcoming it well.(On his bucketlist) His bucket list is watching Son Heung-min’s (play soccer) soccer game, and I hope the bucket list(his dream) will come true.(X) punctuation / word choice-meaning / sentence fragments/ My Classmate <Chae So-hyun>?( incorrect punctuation)??This week I interviewed Chae So-hyun, and I found her to be wholesome and like a dog(meaning unclear). My interview partner was born in Ulsan and is 24 years old. She has four family members and five really close friends. Her favorite songs (performers?) keep changing, but now she’s listening to Lauv and Harry Styles. She also likes spicy food like tteokbokki. She knows how to drive. She belongs to the Sport Business in Division of Global Sport Studies. She applied to her current department because she was interested in sports and doesn’t drink much. She wants to be on the sports marketing team in 10 years. She said she would look for an internship during the summer vacation. She liked animals, so she planned to live with her dog later. She mentioned several times in interviews that(about) ‘living with a dog’.(, so obviously raising a dog is very important to her…why?) Her(On her bucketlist…) bucket list is to travel, and if she inherits 1 trillion won, she will travel for a very long time. But she has no intention of moving abroad. So she would go not far from the city if she moved. This interview was very meaningful because I was able to talk to students from other departments for the first time through this class.?(X)punctuation / cohesion / numbers – spell quantity / My Partner <Choi Si-eun> ( incorrect punctuation)? This week I spoke with Si-eun, and I found her to be a very warm-hearted person. She hasn't thought of marrying somebody yet because she is satisfied with her current lifestyle.?(concluding sentence)(X)verb tense/word choice/subject-verb-agreementMy New Friend Yu Min-ah?? ? ?This week I spoke with Song Ha-jeong, and I found her to be optimistic, and there are three reasons why she is a positive person.First, she likes to go out and live an active life, but because of Corona, she (has had to)had to spend most of her time at home. However, rather than being dissatisfied with this stuffy life, she watches Youtube, Netflix, and Watcha which makes her forget the stuffiness(boredom?), and make her self happy at home. Second, she is a positive person because she was okay with the fact that she can not go on a trip to?Europe this year and rather(than) being disappointed(,) she thinks it would be okay to go to Jeju. Lastly, she is a optimistic person because she told me that she has many good memories in her life, but can’t remember? bad memories, and by (for)this reason I could tell she is a friend who never keeps bad incidents of the past in her mind, and try(tries) to think positively. In conclusion, beside the fact that she is positive, she likes to watch movies and loves to travel which is similar to my interest(s), so if I (we) have a chance to meet in person. I would like to have more conversation and be close friends.(X) – Paragraph form (write in a single paragraph) / titles of movies, plays etc. “Wikid” use quotations for titles / Use reported speech (“I hope you stay healthy.” She hopes you stay healthy) / This week I interviewed Lee Sae-ran, and I found out she is kind and had something in common with me.She kindly e-mailed me right after the lecture. After I answered her question(s), I also sent her a few questions, and she returned a very sincere response in one day. Even she(word order – she even) sent several pictures together! The first thing I learned from these things is that she is very kind. Thanks to this, I was able to write this post easily. I want to thank her for her sincerity.Below is a post about her answer. She lives in Gyeonggi-do, Namyangju with her parents and her sister, and she said she has a dog. She majors in English literature(capitalization). She said she skied during the winter vacation.(How was it? Where? With whom did she go? This week I interviewed Lee Jeong-ran, and I found her to be passionate and positive. She is twenty-three years old and majoring in Global Business. Since she is interested in accounting and trade, she is satisfied with her major and studies hard. She spends her free time meeting friends or surfing the web at the (a) café, but because of coronavirus, she newly has another hobby. She has started to grow plants in her house, and this became her favorite hobby lately. However, she unintentionally keeps killing them. She even killed cactus and Sansevieria stuckyi that are known for (as) easy plants to grow. It was impressive that she did not give up, and made up her mind to grow any plants for a year without killing it. If she succeed it, then she is going to have a cat three years later. She said she will watch cute animals on Yout(T)ube until then. One of her worries is that her bed time keeps getting late because of her studying, and now, she sleeps at 3 a.m. Thus, she tries to eat and get up at certain time to retrieve her routine back. She wants the situation related to covid-19 to be end as soon as possible, and go to Busan or Daecheon and watch the sea with her friends after the final exams. She does not think she will have a job related to her major, because she is not enjoying her major yet. However, in the future, she wants to be a person who live(s) happily and do(es) what she wants. Also, she sees herself in a job or in another country doing what she wants in ten years. (what country would she be interested in living?) If she won the lottery, she will go on a trip and she wants to move to a new place with her family. She also wants to buy what she wants without looking at the price. Finally, she has a lot of (things on her) bucket lists, and one of them is to go to Disney World. Wny? Concluding sentence?(X) - punctuation/ missing article/ word order / capitalization (title)Yu Min-ah, my assigned partner??????????This week I spoke with Yu Min-ah, and I found her to be warm-hearted. Her major is department of Environmental Engineering (,)and she is (a) junior now. The first reason of choosing her major is because she did not want to take more KSAT, so she entered this university according to her(because of her grades) grade. (develop/explain… is she happy or disappointed with her grades and choice of school) While she has been studying in that, she became interested in studying deeply about water which is all around us. Her dream is to be a good mother, and she wants to make a delicious food for her kid.(She not only wants to cook for them, but she…) Not only cooking for them but also she hopes to be a mother who is friendly to them.??As her dream is to cook delicious food for her children, she loves cooking and baking. There is a lot of food that she likes eating and cooking. Especially, Korean food is (especially) her favorite such as doenjang-jjigae, seasoned vegetables (,) and egg roll. It was her first trip with her friends for three nights five days after she turned (became an)adult. Besides, their food suited her palate. It is quite difficult to have a conversation with IE classmates these days, but it is a good to interview assigned partner through this opportunity. ................
