AWARD NOMINATION FORM

Awards will be presented at the USTA Maryland District Annual Meeting at the end of the year. Please include the name, address, and telephone number along with a brief explanation of why you are nominating the individual or organization. Nominees must be USTA members or USTA member organizations. You MUST include the address and telephone number of the nominee so that we can contact the award winner. (A copy of this form is available on the Maryland web site maryland., then click on Awards).

AWARD CATEGORIES

• Pam Shriver Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Game of Tennis in Maryland – The highest award presented by USTA Maryland, this award is presented to the person who has dedicated countless hours and energy to the growth of tennis at the community, State, Sectional and/or National levels and who resides in Maryland.

• Maury Schwartzman Award for Player Development – This award is presented to a coach or instructor for his/her years of dedication to teaching junior players.

• USTA/MD Physical Education Teacher of the Year - Awarded to a physical educator who has incorporated tennis his/her physical education classes, after school programs and in recess opportunities. This teacher has hosted an In-Service training and is willing to make their school and equipment loan center for their district.

• USTA/MD No-Cut Coach of the Year - Awarded to the coach who rosters all players that try out for the tennis team. And has been doing so for a minimum of five years and is registered on the USTA National No Cut web site. This coach gives every interested player a positive experience that will encourage them to participate in the lifetime sport of tennis after high school.

• Paul Goldstein Junior Sportsmanship Award – Male - Presented annually to the Junior Male player that best exemplifies the top qualities of sportsmanship.

• Paul Goldstein Junior Sportsmanship Award – Female - Presented annually to the Junior Female player that best exemplifies the top qualities of sportsmanship.

• Adult Sportsmanship Award – Male – Presented annually to the Adult Male player that best exemplifies the top qualities of sportsmanship.

• Adult Sportsmanship Award - Female - Presented annually to the Adult Female player that best exemplifies the top qualities of sportsmanship.

• Program Administrator of the Year - Presented annually to the individual in Maryland who has been outstanding in the coordination of a USTA Program – junior or adult.

• Tournament Director of the Year - Presented annually to the Director of a sanctioned junior or adult tournament that best demonstrates USTA Maryland’s standards of organizing and conducting a sanctioned event.

• Teaching Pro of the Year - Presented annually to a tennis professional in Maryland who demonstrates a significant contribution to the game of tennis through their promotion of USTA Tennis Programs and their support of the USTA Mission.

• Organization of the Year - Presented annually to a member organization in Maryland to recognize outstanding service to the local community, to the organization members, and to the game of tennis.

• Excellence in Media Award – Presented annually to the individual or organization that has contributed to the game of tennis through their news stories, articles or photos.

• Family of the Year - Presented annually to a family that resides in Maryland that has been outstanding in its promotion of and dedication to the sport of tennis.

• Umpire of the Year (selected by the Association of Maryland Tennis Officials) - Presented annually to a tennis official who has made outstanding contributions to the cause of tennis officiating in Maryland.
