Helping you to tackle poverty and hardship in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

21st November 2019: 9.30-4pm Storey’s Field Centre, Eddington, Cambridge

More than one in five of the UK population (22%) are in poverty* and our work together can make a real difference. *(Joseph Rowntree Foundation Final UK Poverty Findings 2018)

This conference will help you:

- Learn from the latest national research

- Reflect on your own practice

- Share ideas and network with colleagues across the area

- Identify better ways of working locally

The event is free and open to all volunteers and paid workers in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough whose work includes supporting households in hardship.

Workshops will be running in two sessions. Please look at the choices below and put them in order of preference from 1 to 4 for each session block (where 1 is your first choice).

|Learning from New Horizons |What have our evaluators learnt so far about what works and what doesn’t work? This session will include have an | |

| |overview of national and international research on getting online, managing money and getting back into | |

|Session two – Developing knowledge |

|Universal Credit |A comprehensive update from Dave Winterton (DWP) including plenty of opportunities to ask questions | |

|Helping people who are in debt|As non-debt specialists how can we help people in debt? An overview of some of the options available including | |

| |Debt Relief Orders and how to support people to access them | |

|What to do when someone is in |A guide to the grant help available for people in crisis including practical hints on maximising the chances of a| |

|financial crisis |successful application | |

|Maximising income |How can non specialists best support the people they work with to ensure they are making the most of their | |

| |income? Tools and tips on spotting gaps and supporting clients | |
