The development of pop music from 50’s to the current timeHave you ever wondered on how music has changed over the years? Many of us don’t even realise how or when music changes. Music is our daily supply of happiness and energy. Tell me; how many of you listen to music when feeling down on your spirit, the answer is probably 99% of you. If you want to know everything about development of pop music from 50s to the current time don’t stop reading because there are lot of surprises, which will overwhelm you.Over the years music has changed drastically, from slow paced Jazz and simple structure to fast paced electro and heavy Dubstep. After World War II, music got more interest due to the influence of the radio; it had created mass market for music. Since 50s music had many ups and downs like Aqua also known as Joyspeed they were formed in 1989 and achieved huge success over the globe in late 90s and early 2000s. They were successful for short period of time and suddenly despaired. Tell me; how many of you listen to them now stead of electro or some kind of computer music, like electro house or dubstep, the answer is a lot of you. Popular music is that kind of music that everyone listen to, from kids to teenagers and from adults to elders. Pop in other word stands for popular music and it contains every genre of music, like rock’n roll, blues and jazz, punk, folk rock and many others, and it's remained the defining term for the ever-changing music favored by the public. The 50s witnessed the creation of rock’n roll, the genre still listened today the band to portray this was Bill Haley and His Comets. William John Clifton Haley was born on July 6 was an American rock and roll musician. Before he became rock and roll star he was playing country music witch is American popular music. Although some of his fellow musicians became famous, he remained the star. Structure of rock and roll is fast paced, energetic, instrumental, it is not harmonic. 60s everything changed, Beatles have introduced pop and rock. Beatles were British rock band that were formed in Liverpool. They were also known as Fab Four, in 60s with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they became widely recognised as the best rock band in that era. Beatles have sold over 177 million certified units in United States its self. I personally like their music, its lively full of energy but after period of time I’d get annoyed. In my opinion they are good but in small amounts. 70s North America and Europe saw the rise of disco, which became the biggest genre in that era. In particular mid and late 70s aside of disco funk, smooth jazz, funk jazz and soul stayed popular over the decade. Now when disco is being played in clubs it’s being associated with 70s. Abba was one of the biggest disco bands ever known. Their most recognised song is Dancing Queen. ABBA was Swedish pop band in 1972, comprising Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstand. ABBA is an acronym of the first letters of the band members. The music structure was harmonic, fast paced, really energetic, dance music and new wave have emerged in 80s as the term disco fell out of the fashion. Hip hop has been very successful in 80s, encompassing graffiti art, break dancing, rap and fashion became the dominant cultural movement of the African American and Hispanic communities in 80s. 80s also saw the emerge of computer music; bands noticed that and they did not had need in drummers no more. Many bands got rid of drummers for that reason. Many drummers bankrupted and had no carrier. In 90s a lot have changed, computers have come in to fashion and so electronica came in to fashion with it. With explosive growth of computers and technology the consequent of reduction in the cost of the equipment allowed single musician to create a whole band. No limits with computers musicians made a use of it. Many started playing solo. Even though initially electronic music stayed dance music. In 90s many popular band have emerged in 90s like Linkin Park still popular and listened to this day. “In the end” Linkins Park fourth and final single from their hugely successful debut album and reliced at very beginning of our decade in the end its is the tune that has lasted. Linkin park has emerged from dicey rap metal scene and has become one of the major success stories of the genre. This track deals with a broken trust and quickly became their anthem. 20s saw emerge of many good musicians like Rihanna, Beyoncé, Eminem. I could go on there is many to choose from. But 20s is much different than 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s not so much 90s but there are differences. 20s music is more complex there are more chords and ticker structures but it all depends on the genre and the song. Now our times songs always go through some kind of computer fixing. They get changed, if someone is a bad singer it does not matter because computer can make your voice sound 100 times better. Dubstep is very recognisable genre in our era. It’s very catchy very energetic, it’s fast and it’s different to all other genres. to 60sGenres of pop musicMusical Characteristics Format and ProductionMusical ExamplesBluesGuitar, bass guitar, piano, harmonica, upright bass, drums, saxophone, vocals, trumpet, cornet, tromboneIt has three chords, it’s played slowly and it is relaxing. Was produced on vinyl or played live.Ray CharlesRobert JohnsonDance musicGuitar, keyboard, drums, bass. It’s played loud and it is very energetic. Was produced on vinyl or played live.Bobby FreemanBuddy KnoxNovelty songsGuitar, Bass, drums, often also keyboards. Was produced on vinyl or played live.Sheb WooleyJohnny StandleyR&BDrum kit, bass guitar, saxophone, horns, piano, organ, electric guitarWas produced on vinyl or played live.Steve ArringtonElise EstradaRock Electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, drums, piano, synthesizer, keyboardsWas produced on vinyl or played live.Dwayne JohnsonPedro RizzoSkiffleWashboard, Jugs, Tea chest bass, kazoo, Cigar-box fiddle, Musical saw, comb and paper, Guitar, BanjoWas produced on vinyl or played live.John LennonJohnny DuncanRock and rollElectric guitar, string bass or later bass guitar, drums, optional piano and saxophoneWas produced on vinyl or played live.Bill HaleyElvis Presley60s to 70sGenres of pop musicMusical CharacteristicsFormat and ProductionMusical ExamplesCalifornia soundGuitar, bass, drums, keyboardsWas produced on vinyl, tabloid or played live. The GrowlersFoxygenSoulElectric guitar, Bass guitar, piano, Hammond organ, drums, horn section, keyboards, clavinet, vocalsWas produced on vinyl, tabloid or played live.James BrownLevi StubbsFolk rockelectric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, drums, Hammond organ, piano, harmonica, fiddleWas produced on vinyl, tabloid or played live.Bob DylanTom DooleyCountry Guitar, drums, fiddle, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo, double bass, piano, keyboard, dobro, electric guitar, steel guitar, pedal steel guitar, harmonica harpWas produced on vinyl, tabloid or played live.Bob DylanJohnny CashProg rockGuitars, bass, keyboards and drums. You can say I’m going with the flow, were music goes I go, I don’t stay behind. Some people may take me for a idiot. There was many great musicians and bands, which have changed music and created something beautiful. It is so weird to see music change so drastically. Just 50 years ago music was much different to our days. Now we have dubstep, electro and only 20 years there was nothing like this. It is scary but cool and amazing to see how music has changed over the years and how it is still changing. The end ................
