October 2020EHFN Projects UpdateIT Support and Training on ExmoorFirstly thank you to those who responded to the Needs Assessment for IT Support and Training on Exmoor.?Covid-19 is producing a ‘new normal’ in the way businesses need to use IT, especially in remote upland locations like Exmoor. The results have given us a good understanding on the subject areas for delivery based on the needs of our area. ?We are delighted to announce Andrew Ambler at Exmoor ICT will be providing specialist IT training and?support to deliver the programme between now and January 2021. With the continuation of Covid measures in place we are not going to be able host these support sessions in person.This project is open to all and we are very keen to hear from members who are absolute beginners who may or may not have a suitable device but need to get up to speed with zoom video calling to enable them to take part. Please get in touch in confidence, if you would like us to help in the first instance and if required we can recommend a number of IT providers ( at your own cost) to assist with suitable devices.A step by step Zoom set up guide will be circulated shortly for those who may not be familiar with video calling and prepared to give it a go. This guide will enable you to download the programme on your chosen device ( computer, laptop, iPhone, android phone, mac etc).Andrew at Exmoor IT is kindly preparing the first bite sized video covering a range of useful information and tips which will be circulated within the next couple of weeks via email and on our website. ?These videos will follow up with a zoom call for members to take part?in participatory online sessions?(covering both knowledge sharing and professional training). Two cake sales were set up at Blackmoor Gate and Cutcombe Market earlier this week. We are delighted to report our fundraising efforts will enable at least 7 nurses or 8 support workers to support / care for people living with cancer. We must extend our thanks to Exmoor Farmers for allowing us to use their venues and the catering teams.
