Dear Members of the Biden-Harris Administration Transition Team,The national nonprofit’s individuals and organizations signatory to this letter strongly support the recommendations by the Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy & Practice (CTIPP) in the attached document that prioritize actions the incoming administration can take in its first 100 days to address childhood trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), historical trauma, other traumas, and nurture resiliency across the country. The recommendations for administrative actions are in two buckets: first, the severe trauma being caused by COVID-19; second, the trauma that has harmed so many families and communities for many generations, far beyond the pandemic. We encourage the administration to consider both of these buckets as you develop an action plan for the first 100 days in office. There are hundreds of other organizations and thousands of individuals actively advocating at local, state, and federal levels for the implementation of trauma-informed and resilience-focused policies and programs to address the deep needs that exist throughout our country. Signors of this letter represent the growing support by trauma-informed and resilience-focused practices who assist the administration taking the steps laid out in the attached document.Psycho-social-emotional needs have been inadequately addressed to date because there has not been a comprehensive plan to create a continuum of care that supports communities and individuals suffering the impacts of trauma and adversity. The comprehensive plan laid out in this document supports the administration to work toward creating such a continuum of care that helps build resiliency in communities. The Biden-Harris Administration has an opportunity to capture the growing support for the trauma-informed movement by making CTIPP’s recommendations a part of the first 100 days plan. This would be a crucial step in making the United States trauma-informed. All of us congratulate the new administration on their win in November and are rooting for success in all you do. We hope that you will consider our recommendations and prioritize addressing trauma and building resilience as you create pathways toward a better future. The individuals and organizations signatory to this letter are available to assist the administration in any way we can to implement a trauma-informed agenda. Sincerely,[List Signors] ................
