(Qualified)Leader training a continuous process and applies to all membersLeader challenge – are you part of the problem or part of the munications: up – down -lateral and important. Pass-downs come to the Divisions, so we can be up to date in our endeavors and do our job effectively and efficiently. The district staff and the DIRAUX office expend a lot of time and effort to help make our job easier. I also spend a lot of time emailing and copying those pass-downs…read them and follow their directions. There are many changes in our leadership from the Commandant, the National Commodore, District Commodore, Staff officers on down to the changes at our Flotilla levels. Those of us with prior experience need to help the new leaders and our members to become productive and efficient as quickly as possible. We need to adjust to and embrace the changes as the way of the future. Division GoalsIncrease membership through recruitingProvide more opportunities for members to become active and qualified.Develop new leaders and staff officers though mentoring and training.Increase cooperation and understanding with better communication.FLOTILLA COMMANDER REPORTS #11-2Flotilla 11-2 met on October 3rd. ? Scholz, SO-CMExecutive SummaryAs was the case last month, the 30 days ending in mid-October has been busy for the communications Department. Another hurricane, this time Michael, targeted the Florida Panhandle and the state of Georgia. Support for the CG’s long-distance communications system was requested of the AUX by the CG’s Communications Command. At the request of the newly elected DCOS and the returning DSO-CM, the SO-CM is providing some suggestions for enhancing and improving the communications program in D11 South. The communications trailer has been again requested to be a part of the Sector San Diego COOP exercise and plan. A full-scale COOP exercise for SSD will be conducted in May of 2019.DetailsBecause of the threat of Hurricane Michael, the three major HF facilities in the Division were alerted and “stood up” for monitoring duties of digital and voice communications on HF and the HF broadcast of weather facsimile information by the USCG’s Communications Command. The three stations were still active on 16 September, but after a short shut down were reactivated for a similar mission between October 7 and October 11th.With the election of a new DCOS for D11 South and the retention of the current DSO-CM, an effort is being made to enhance and improve the CM program throughout the district. At the request of the DSO-CM, your SO-CM is submitting a multi-pronged recommendation for changes to the CM program. It is still in draft form, but a final version is expected to be completed before the end of October. Some of the recommendations are:A vastly re-worked communications workshop for DTRAIN 2019;Create a one-hour workshop and training session to be provided on-line targeted at the FSO-CM’s and other interested members; andDefine the types of radio nets appropriate for D11 and PACAREA.Division 11’s communications trailer has again been requested for incorporation in Sector San Diego’s COOP (Continuity of Operations) Plan. There will be a full scale (including deployment) exercise of the COOP Plan in May of 2019. Two members of the Division have been requested to be part of the exercise planning activities between November of 2018 and May of 2019. ADDITIONAL OPERATORS FOR THE TRAILER WILL BE REQUIRED. SPECIALIZED TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED. If you have an interest in being one of the operators, contact your SO-CM directlyCSCOMMUNICATION SERVICES ~ Clarence M. PAPUBLIC AFFAIRS ~ Paul Saba, SO-PAExecutive Summary:Details:The following projects have been completed. The Division 11 Facebook page has grown to a reach of approximately 1,000 people. Our videos, posts, and announcements are viewed regularly, and we are growing. I am trying to post a video approximately once per month, but it seems more like once a quarter. My goal is to work on improving this to once a month. Very important to Like and Share posts when they come out to increase our awareness/reach.We still struggle in announcing our PE classes. I have sent press releases to local paper, but they will not run the story since they believe it’s advertising and want to be paid for printing. It was suggested we plan and put announcements in local city published quarterly community events calendars that come out with community classes taught during the season. The Facebook announcement was shared by only me and had only 26 views (Facebook puts your events out only if they are liked and shared). We are rolling into our winter operations tempo. PA activities will be focusing on PE programs, Recruitment, and other winter RBS activities. I NEED STORIES! I need pictures with every story PLEASE!!! Help me help you tell your story to both internal and external recipients. Public Affairs is vital to our continued growth.Flotilla Reports:11-02 Ontario No Report Provided11-05 Tri Lakes No Report Provided11-07 Chino Conducted MDV&VE’s and sent out 2 PSA.11-11 Inland Empire PB posted on Facebook sire 11-12 Big Bear Nothing to reportPBPUBLICATIONS ~ SO-PBExecutive Summary: Details:PEPUBLIC EDUCATION ~ Vicki L Dehaven, SO-PEExecutive Summary: Details: 11-2 The last class for the year will be held on October 20th.
