‘Nothing is impossible with God’ Luke 1:37REMOTE LEARNINGCLASS: EYFS (Nursery and Reception)DATE: WB: 1.2.2021This half term our topic is Winter. We will have many focusing books which our activities will be based around. The book this week is “The Polar Bear and the Snow Cloud” by Jane Cabrera. If you have the book at home, then please read it together. Alternatively watch the videos posted onto Tapestry this week of the teachers telling the story or at this link: This week we’ll be delivering more resources for your packs on Monday and Tuesday. It was lovely to see you all on our visits and we are very much looking forward to seeing you again and to see how you got on with last week’s tasks. When we visit we will ask to see the work from last week so please have it ready to show us (if you have already uploaded photos and videos to Tapestry this will be fine instead). It is important that we see the evidence that your child is accessing home learning. Please glue any sheets from last week in the purple book.Phonics/Reading**Starting this week we will be sending home a book from the class library. This is not a topic-based book, it is for you to read at your leisure with your child. Please read it as often as you like during the week. Reading for pleasure is an important part of our school day. Perhaps you have a good selection of books already, but we still want the children to have one from school. Please look after it as you would one of your own. We will collect it the following week on our doorstep visit and swap it for another one. We will keep this going for as long as schools are shut. Books will be quarantined back in school to prevent the spread of germs.Watch/ read The Polar Bear and the Snow Cloud from our Tapestry video or here: HYPERLINK "" PhonicsNursery and Reception- Further information regarding your child’s phonics lessons will be available on Tapestry daily.Whilst in school the children work in set phonics groups to match their ability. We now have a system in place where your child will have a lesson which will be aimed specifically at their group. Mark Making/WritingNurseryUse your name card and practice as often as you can to trace over (or copy) your name. Even if your child cannot trace over the letters precisely they will still be learning about pencil control and mark-making. Please write on the next page of their workbook.Ask your child to try and write what they can see on the winter pictures sheet. In nursery they may not yet be able to form letters so just let them make their own marks and let them move their pencil about the page. Ask them to tell you what they think they have written. They may say single words. If they can hear some sounds encourage them to try and write the letter. Please glue into your purple books when done.Use the worksheet with wavy lines and straight lines to practice pencil control. Please glue into your purple book when done.==============================================================ReceptionIn your pack this week there are sheets with winter scenes on. Ask your child to try and write full sentences describing what they can see. There are some key words to help. Please encourage your child to sound out and spell each word themselves, please do not worry or correct them if it’s spelt incorrectly. At this stage in Reception we look at ensuring certain words that cannot be sounded out are spelt correctly, eg: the, to, no. Please refer to the video uploaded previously on Tapestry where Mrs Hough models how to write sentences. MathsNurseryAll of our Maths lessons will be done on video or memo this week. Please watch for the videos or memos to be uploaded daily. You may need your resources such as the Numicon Plates or your workbooks. ReceptionPlease check Tapestry daily where Mrs Hough will upload each day’s Maths lesson.RENurseryStart with the sign of the cross. In Nursery we say this in a special way with actions. There is a video on Tapestry and on the website.Watch Mr Prior’s video on Tapestry where he talks about following Jesus’ example of showing kindness to others.
