I would use a handout with fill in the blanks next time so that the student does not feel she needs to take notes on all the material. The slides walk the student through marital satisfaction, divorce, and the effects divorce has on children. The student should read through the slides, making notes of the information she understandings and areas that need clarification. Assessment FOR/AS Learning:The student will complete this lesson independently at home; thus, she is in charge of her own learning and productivity. The teacher will be able to see how she understood the material from her fill in the blanks handout and journal responses. As well as their discussion that will take place on Thursday. PowerPointOnce they have finished reading through the slides and making notes, they must complete a fill in the blanks handout and write a brief journal reflection answering two questions. The student should fill in the blanks in the handout. By having the student complete this task after reading through the slides, it forces the student to read through them a second time and re-familiarize herself with the information. The student will then complete two journal questions, which will show the teacher her understanding of the material. HandoutThe student will email her work to the teacher when completed. Reflection: The student enjoyed this lesson and understood the material very well. I would try to incorporate more videos and less reading next time, or maybe even an article with questions. Assessment FOR Learning:Although some information is added, this portion of the lesson reviews the material covered this week and forms a discussion between the teacher and the student about intimate relationships: cohabitation, marriage, divorce, and so on. HandoutMarch Break Assignment Discussion: We will discuss the 7 assignment options and expectations. The student will choose which 4 assignments she will complete over the March Break. The student should take advantage of this time to ask questions about the assignments. This will become an Assessment OF Learning when the student completes the assignments. For now it is Assessment FOR Learning as the teacher sees what the student is comfortable with, and AS Learning when the student is determining which assignments she believes she can do best.
